When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

Oh wow, forgot I answered a q, and didn't know I was right!
OK--
From whence real-world source cometh Captain Marvel's rank and alter-ego's name? And what's the precursor of his comics' title (as well as radio station name)?

Wilford H. Fawcett, the founder of Fawcett comics, was the inspiration for Batson's first name, "Billy". He also held the rank of Captain in World War One.
Captain Billy's Whiz Bang, which was an earlier magazine by Fawcett also inspired the rank as well as the name "Billy" and the later comicbook in which Cap would first appear as Captain Marvel, "Whiz Comics".
Well, since I never read the crossover, I'll just throw out Avengers until one of them sticks.
Hawkeye?
Unless your female, Hawkeye won't stick to you, tho if he's been without a woman for awhile, you might not want to shake his hand, his palms might be sticky and/or hairy.
And Hawkeye is the right answer. He also made time with Black Canary, something Oliver Queen wasn't too happy about.
