I don't want to play a game of chess where dumb luck or money decides whether or not I get to use a rook... Collectibility is a necessary evil of Heroclix, not a boon.

I thought Iron Man was a very good movie, up until the very end. I didn't like that he told everyone that he was Iron Man. And I don't like the Ultimates Nick Fury, so I didn't like seeing him after the credits.
For the most part, it was a very good movie though. It was cast well, acted well, it didn't have any dumb 1 liners, and it didn't go overboard and try to shove too much story all at once. It seemed to me to stick pretty well to the comics, and I can't wait for the sequel.

As I stated earlier, I have not read Iron Man since the late 1960s. Catching up through Wikipedia, it never occurred to me that I was reading the very first Iron Man comics back then. Too bad I never kept that stuff. Back in those days, people did not know Stark and Iron Man were the same person. The Wikipedia entry noted that he disclosed that relationship to the world 30 years later. So, for me, the announcement was a shock, but now I understand that Marvel was simply showing his history in one movie.
I thought this was the best Marvel movie produced to date.

You liked it better than Spider-Man 1 and X-Men 2? Those are the two that I think are currently the best. I think this one is up there, but at times it almost seemed too safe. As in, it didn't do anything bad, but it didn't take any chances and do anything extraordinary. I am very happy with it, though. And I'd rather it have it be safe and great than took some changes and became "the movie had so much potential".
And mmo = massively multiplayer online (like Everquest and World of Warcraft)

I hate when "they" exercise too much artistic license when making these films. The images of the "Clooney" Batman are forever etched into my brain. I liken this movie to Batman Returns which set the stage for what will hopefully be a series of good back-to-basics stories.

Batman Returns was a great movie too.
I agree with you that they didn't take too much artistic license - but perhaps it helped that Robert Downey Jr. (supposedly) is a big fan of the comic book character. He (supposedly) set up camp next to the director so that he could influence the writing to make sure it stayed true to the character.
My favorite part about the movie: no stupid one-liners.
