i still like using exp thor ... he's a tad better than beta ray bill and more mobile than despero (running shot/8 range) his attack is pretty consistant ...same with his damage.... i just dont recomend pushing him at all ...
"He's got a possible 12 Attack",
Yeah, with 3 Perplex stacked on top of his 9 Attack!?
Why not advertise all figures with stats that are 3 higher than what they've got?
WKids could say, "This Paramedic does 3 Damage".
Despero takes them all down. Despero with his high defense and impervious gives him a better chance to get hit without taking damage. Then, when he attacks...it's over.
Tough call - Magneto I think is a pretty clear cut third. Beta Ray Bill and E Thor are really pretty much tied for 4th, being essentially the same figure with only very minor differences.
So it comes down to Despero and U Iron Man. Both are great figures, but play very differently. Iron Man is highly mobile, with his high speed, and 2 opening clicks of RS, moving on to 3 clicks of charge. Two targets with natural 4 damage and Energy Explosion, both very handy, especially if you pick up an Enhance piece on the fly. Late dial Pulse Wave is icing on the cake. He's slightly held back by a somewhat low AV and DV, but it's balanced out by how steady both of them remain throughout the dial.
Despero, on the other hand, loses out on the mobility, allthough Leap/Climb and speed equal to that of Iron Man, he doesn't have any trouble getting around the board, he'll also have a hard time getting in the first hit without a TK piece. All of his numbers are fantastic, all the way down his dial, and the fact that he's got 10 clicks on there just makes him that much better.
Who's better? Depends on the team you build. They're both great attackers, with Despero being the harder hitting of the two, and Iron man being the more flexible.
I put Iron Man only slightly behind Despero. For two reasons-- droping stats and Despero has Leap/Climb (and Regen) which has saved his pink butt many a time. After Despero has done his damage, he can run away if he needs to. I lost IM in a match because he could not break away.
Really, they have different uses. Despero is great for taking down your opponent's big bully. Iron man is more suited for attacking the rest of the force (2 bolts, Ultimates team, EE all spell Stealthbuster/Supportbuster to me).
I am a fan of both.
Magneto is powerful and scary, but that short dial is a problem. Yes, it's hard to get close enough to hurt himn if you have mobility issues-- but if you don't, you can neuter him pretty quickly. BRB and Thor just don't deal out as much hurt.
It's Funny, as soon as I read the title of this thread I thought to myself Desparo Hands Down! But, on my 909 point all Unique team who do I have? Magneto. I mean a TK'er that kicks butt also. But... I was thinkinkg about tweaking my team abit and adding Desparo....so my vote would normally be for Desparo...but I think I choose Magento.
I can't believe anyone can even use that Desspero guy.
I don't collect DC figs so I had to go look him up and man that thing is ugly.
Have some respect people!
I have to go with Iron Man, Ultimate TA and he has the moves to get out there and do somthing.
Magneto comes in second and if you don't mind playing ugly fricken figs Desspero gets the nod for third.

Hey Foe Hunter, Corsair, Hepzibah and Calypso called. They wanted to thank you on behalf of Marvel's ugly figures. Oh, and a Professor X with an eye painted on his cheek was heard to comment, "Ugly? I can't see ####!"
Seriously though, Despero, as pink and ugly as he is, is definately the top dog in the 144 pt kennel. I would place Iron Man and Magneto at second. Iron Man has a devastating offence, but Magneto is no slouch either. Magz also has TK to sweeten the deal. Thor and Bill are good, but they just don't match up to the others in this category.
Hay I didnt say marvel dosent have ugly figures, it certainly does.
I just prefer to play with the less ugly ones my self, still can't get over this enough to field Doc Samson, great dial horibly ugly figure.
Some figures it just hurts to look at and for me I just can't seem to play em.
So if you love the ugly by all means field the big Pink freak with a fin on his head I don't care. Real nice dial on that sucker I wouldnt blame ya.
To me style plays a role in Hero Clix along with a nice dial.

Seriously, Despero has better average speed, AV, DV and damage all the way down his dial. Has 2 more clix of life than IM and 3 more than Mags. Those extra clix along with Regeneration make him harder to take out and give him a serious edge. He also starts with 4 clix of Impervious (1 more than Mags and 2 more than IM). With 3 different clix of Psychic Blast he really has a chance of ignoring defensive powers. Leap/Climb and Super Strength can make for a lethal combination also. A Despero player doesn't mind pushing, but Mags and IM lose more if they push (Running Shot). In my opinion, at 144 pts, there is no better overall clix than Despero.
The Best 144 Pt. Figure would have to be Despero b/c of him having that Mental Blast Power doing 4 straight to anybody with invulnerability and if you don't roll your Impervious or SuperSenses your going to be taking 4 as well.
