Suddenly the heroes appear in a field opposite the Legion of Fear.

"Vas.." questions Nightcrawler who had been in pajamas and fast asleep with a vague recollection of dreams of Halloween candy.

Jane Foster bumps into Ghost Rider, as Johnny Blaze.

"Pardon me.." she says.

"No harm, no foul," he responds.

Arywn rolls with the punches but cannot make out the demonic looking Nightcrawler or the pair of Japanese women with weapons in hand that puts her bow to shame.

"Friends...my apologies for this..."

"Hey. What's up doc? I always wanted to say that.." Spider-Man says as he reaches out to touch the mage but his hand passes through.

"Spider-Man, this is my astral form. My corporeal body is in shackles under the control of Nightmare. He means to dominate the world through his minions and spells. He will succeed if you do not stop him by midnight tonight..."

"What is the deal with midnight? " Spidey asks, "Why it is never 12:07? It's real hard to coordinate watches what with time zones, time travel, space travel..."

"Quiet fool," Dr. Fate says, "I sense your situation as if it were my own, Strange. We will do what must be done."

"Of course, Stephen you are an old friend whom I trust with my life," Mar-Vell says, "But why this particular gathering of people? Why not the Avengers? Fantastic Four?"

"My power is borrowed, Marvell. I had no time to be delicate. Time shifted from a children's Halloween party to the lot of you."

Jane Foster looked angry, "What does that mean, Doctor?"

"Temporary borrowed essences of surrogates. The spell ends at midnight. The children will revert to themselves. The magician will again be himself. So too the space boy and all the rest. The children will not be harmed by my spell however Nightmare's is another tale."

Suddenly Strange screams and fades out.

"Ominous..." Dr. Fate thinks.

"What do we do now?" the Beast asks.

"Each of his words ring true," Fate says, "Our path is clear."

"Yes, good mage" Shi says, "Point us in the direction of own enemies."

And so the fight for Halloween begins...

A few issues with the move there.

1. Beast has neither the range nor line of fire to Abomination to Outwit him from C14.

2. Marvel would have to move at least as far as row 19 to target Arcane. Still well within his capabilities tough, so the attack can still go ahead after a minor repositioning.

3. Arwyn cuold only move as far as row 18, not all the way to 17 - though again, Hobgoblin's still within her range from there, so you can still do that move after a slight position change.

And so it begins, and with such a large team it's no surprise. Assume Marvel is J19 and Arwyn J18. Beast's outwit obviously is not valid at this time.

That Running Shot is going to pose some trouble.

Nightcrawler moves 9 to L9, attacks Hobgoblin. Needs only not to get a 2. Rolls 5. Hobgoblin is down. NC ends at G12.
Nothing for Beast to outwit. Pity.

Heavens to Betsy. You're tearing me apart.

One thing on Shi's move. O16 is elevated, not hindering (see post 13), so A. She's not in stealth up there, and B. She couldn't get up there without flight, phasing, or leap/climb. (Unless she went via the stairs in P & Q13, but her movement's not high enough for that.

I'll wait for you to amend her move before I take my next turn.

OK Shi to C16 then.

Arywn took aim at the Hobgoblin. As ever, she struck the deadliest of blows with her arrows.

"Hello there, Hobgoblin," she says after the hit, "Welcome to the neighborhood."

While reeling from the attack Nightcrawler characteristically bamfs above the villian and clobbers him with tail and fists. "Yes and I welcome you as well, me your friendly neighborhood wallcrawler," Kurts says with a ko blow.

"Hey!" yells Spider-Man, "I've trademarked that!"

Already down a figure and I haven't even had a chance to attack yet. Loved Spider-Man's line.

I could really use some Perplex on this team.

1. Goblin Queen pushes to TK Lizard to G11.

2. Lizard attacks Nightcrawler. AV10 on DV18, needs 8. Gets a 5. That's no help.

3. Arcane's going to try for Nightcrawler too. AV9 on DV18. +1 for hindering. Needs a 10. Gets 4. I do hope this isn't indicative of how I'm going to roll all game.

4. Brood Warrior taxis Nightmare. Warrior to E16. Nightmare in E17.

5. Abomination Leap/Climbs to D9

"Nightcrawler," the Goblin Queen leered at him. "I remember you. You will be quite a nuisance if not dealt with. Lizard. You deal with him."

She used her telekinesis to send the Lizard to the roof of the truck overlooking Nightcrawler. From there he pounced on the mutant. Only the mutant wasn't there.

"Ssssssss, kill you when I catch you, warm-blood."

"Yes," Nightcrawler agreed, "but catching you see, that's the trick. Oops. 'Scuse me." He did a backflip over Arcane's incoming magic spell.

"No. They're picking us off from a distance. Insect," he said, slapping it on the head, "get me over there. I need to rend flesh. Circe, come with me." The Brood warrior picked up Nightcrawler, while Circe grabbed the Skrull and followed them to where a bunch of the heroes were clustered.

"Grundy want to fight, too," the creature said, shambling up to the reserves.

Abomination was chomping at the bit in the back too. He tensed his powerful legs and leapt to the top of a large dirt pile.

Beast attacks Skrull Warrior. Needs 8, rolls 3. Outwits Circe's mc.

Marvel attacks Nightmare. Needs 7, rolls 7. 5 to Nightmare.

Hector Hall will attack Nightmare. Needs 6, rolls 3. Bummer. Oh well, all my figures near him share in his 17 defense at least.

Could try more but that would involve pushing. Don't wanna do that just yet...
