UPDATE: at least one team member is still in the hunt for Dark Phoenix. Dark Phoenix, if you are buying her and not winning her, is $35.To get the free Nova you need to spend only $50. PLUS - they are GIVING AWAY Statesmen figs with purchases. Boo-yah!!!
So could you post the Teams that each member played?
I'm curious as to the quality of the teams played.
Did anybody play Galactus?
Also,
on Saturday post what they got in their Boosters,
and what they decided to play on their teams.
And then on Sunday post what their Constructed Teams were.
To artyboy:
"I'm glad to see that they stuck to their guns with the Statesman availability"
I think you're saying that it's too bad that
Statesman was so hard to get for awhile,
and now people at LA are basically getting him for free.
THOMAS, I hope to get as much of that info as possible, I've been talking to some of the guys tonight, but the first battle for Dark Phoenix was still on...so no details yet.

FYI... sylentspy won the Dark Phoenix tourney and Craig-O picked up fellowship (congrats guys!).
It's been a long day and my brain is pretty well fried. If I go off on some tanget or become suddenly incoherent, you'll know why.
I met a ton of people today. I won't list names cause I'd leave a bunch out. I was running the Dark Phoenix event all day long (no breaks, no time to check out the hall... I'll have to see what I can do about that over the next couple of days ) and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Lots of cheese of course, but also some very "unorthodox" teams as well. The hall was swagged with Morlock Leader figs (WK even gave them to the Vs players ) and we were giving away other LEs throughout the day to anyone who rolled a crit miss.
I kept hearing reports that the WK booth was swamped all day. They are a lot more phoenix figs than Galactus figs so a lot more people are getting the chance to buy them (and are buying them). I didn't see anyone upset yet because they haven't picked one up yet, but maybe they figure that there is still two left. If anyone is contemplating picking one up on ebay right now... don't. There really are a lot of the phoenix figs being sold.
Went to the envoy appreciation dinner tonight (something WK does for the envoys the first day of every con that WK attends) and had a good time. Everyone got a Sportsclix '05 starter and played a couple of games (much simpler and faster than the previous version... it's been redone well). We also saw a preview of Fantastic Forces and no, I can't talk about it. Suffice to say I think players will be extremely happy with the quality that WK has put into this set. It truely is amazing to look at.
That's about it for now... I'm beat. Time for a Guiness and then bed. Tomorrow is going to be a long day. I'm running the sealed portion of the championship game and I think we've got space alloted for over 100 players. Best of luck to anyone who is coming out to play!
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
They are giving advanced ticket purchasers random Cosmic Justice LE-3's. A friend standing next to me got an Eddie Carlin. When I was opening mine I was joking around saying that maybe I'll get a Pharzoof. And guess what? I ended up getting Pharzoof! I wasn't the only one either (I saw 2 other people get Pharzoof). I saw another guy get a Little Sure Shot. It looked like you had an equal chance of getting any CJ LE-3.
There were ALOT of VIP ticket purchasers (they paid $150 for their ticket and a Dark Phoenix voucher)...somewhere around 200 or more.
Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse Dragon were done by lottery. Anyone with a badge (regular, VIP, exhibitor, and CHILDREN) could get a lottery ticket for these. They had 400 Dark Phoenixs and 300 Apocalypse Dragons for Friday (these don't include the VIP guaranteed ones) -- I know cause I counted the winning numbers.
Dark Phoenix was selling for $30, not $35. They were giving Free Statesman figures with ANY purchase. Novas were given for $50 purchases....BUT THEY RAN OUT OF STATESMEN AND NOVA FIGURES sometime around 6:00PM. Advice: buy your stuff early, don't wait til the end of the day if you want these free LE's.
Other stuff WizKids were selling: Heroclix Boosters for $8-$9 each (they ran out of Legacy really fast). Universe Starters for $14. Sentinels for $17. Sinestro for $20.
I ended up buying Dark Phoenix ($30) + Apocalypse Dragon ($75) -- yes I won both lotteries, and walked away with Statesman (free), Pirates Mega Booster (free with $25 purchase), LE Nova (free with $50 purchase), some Mechwarrior LE (free with $75 purchase) and some Mage Knight LE (free with $100 purchase). But I got in line early and like I said, by around 6PM many of the free LEs were gone.
That's it for this report. I'll try to post some pictures that I took at the con later if I have time.
First off, I've finally put some faces to the names. I met everybody but croloris from the Realms team but he's flying in tonight. Most of us decided to practice for tomorrow's invitational by doing the battle royales. The royales are either Ultimates or Unleashed at 5 a pop. Not a bad deal!!! I can tell you that SylentSpy was the only one of us to enter the Dark phoenix tourney and I'm glad to see he won!!!! A good omen for your Realms teammembers??? Yep, the Dark Phoenixes are 30 and Apoc Dragons are 75- and to be honest that Dragon (not a Mage Knight fan) and Uber Jean Gray are well worth it! I won both the lottery draws for Phoenix and Apoc Dragon as well. But I will say this: There weren't as many people today as there will be tomorrow or Sunday- so don't be surprised if you don't pull a winning raffle if you go this weekend. Ro-gan, Doom's Medic and I have another story to tell but that won't be revealed until after this weekend is over! And yes Hair 10 worked his butt off today but it's just a warm up- the real insanity will be tomorrow.
And yes Groovy Boy was already talking about "The Olive Manta".
Congrats to Sylent Spy and good luck to my teammates. Only Doom's medic is locked for the finals so that leaves the rest of us to fend for ourselves. I'm sure we'll be just fine. A better report tomorrow night with lots of team details and such. I'll give Sylent Spy's team as well!
Con was a lot of fun. A lot better organized than last year's, everything seemed to run pretty smoothly. Kudos to all involved.
I play constructed games every week, so I decided to skip the Dark Phoenix tourney and spend some time in the battle royales. Maybe not the best idea, got thumped in two Unleashed tournaments. First tournament I ended up with V DEO Agent, E Chameleon, and 2 x V Batgirl. Second round, I have V Deadshot, E Cyborg, R Jesse Quick, E Queen Bee. Neither one a horrible team, but poor matches and poor rolls got me taken out in both games. Hopefully, I have used up all of my bad luck for the weekend, so I should roll well for the Invitational.
I had winning tickets to purchase both the dragon and the phoenix, but they were out of the nova and statesman figs by the time I got to the front of the line, so I ended up giving my dragon ticket to someone else. I will try to get the dragon tomorrow and pick it up earlier; I don't play mage knight at all, but the Dragon is just amazing.
The non-HeroClix portion of the con was fun as well. I found a few trade paperbacks that i was looking for at the various 50% off boothes, and picked up a couple of cool indie comics.
Looking forward to the invitational tomorrow.
