He wants his intro back! Seriously frontman, have a little bit of originality please. I mean word for word, even the wrong, wrong, wrong part. Sheesh! Otherwise I like your threads.
I would like to thank you for the link, Jen does some amazing work. I am big on mod figures cause lets face it heroclix is gorgeuos but does not cover every interest.
I modded talia into buffy the vampire slayer, by painting her hair blond, her shirt maroon, and her pants into blue jeens, i then cut down her sword a little and painted it brown to look like a stake. and removed the gun from her left hand.
I am new at arts and crafts myself, i went to a hoppy shop and bought a paint kit and an exacto knife, but its a lot of fun.

Yes, but this is a game where figures that have WAY more than 50 produced already fetching 37.50 or even more. KC Superman and Thor have gone for more than that, and they're not nearly as unique. What I'm saying is, it's not so much about the supply, but about the demand. Not as many care about having the Brett Favre card (I can infer from the lower price)as having a Thor, or a Masterpiece Heroclix. Heroclix has a built in fan base, and some of that base will always fanactical collectors, trying to get every piece.
The thing about those football cards though...in 50 years football cards will still be around and who knows how much that card will be worth then? Realisticly, I don't see Clix being around for 50 years, and see their price dropping because no one will be playing, except for fun games at home.

would someone care to explain to me how such an awefully subjective piece of nonsense is being featured prominently on the frontpage of this site?
this is not an article, period. The poor writing and rambling nature of it is no better than any worthless rant from the forums, and is certainly no better than the goodbye threads the writer admonishes.
I'm still dumbfounded by your remarks about gama, big freakin deal. WK lost, so you make conspiracy excuses? please. WK lost because the galactus, while cool, is certainly not any great addition to the heroclix gameplay experience. nothing impressively innovative about it and the playtesting for it was obviously flawed. that stupid $200 pile of rubber almost never gets used. why? because its a lopsided play experience and one dimensional. unleashed didnt win because it is nothing remotely innovative or worthy of reward. you expect WK to win year after year by just putting out more of the same without any significant innovation? its a fluke they won as many times as they did.

I'm glad you asked.
One of my duties as administrator of the site is to be the content editor for the front page articles. One of my goals to that end is to present a variety of viewpoints and subject matter. Columns like Activation Click are intended to inspire discussion by presenting a specific view point on current events in 'Clix. The stronger the point of view presented, the more likely that forum members will tend to strongly agree or disagree with the writer...ideally constructive discussion will ensue.
I'm sure not every article appeals to everyone on the site...which is why I try to provide a variety. If the Frontman doesn't stir your thoughts, please feel free to ignore his column...it's easy to pick out with the cool Shazam! banner each week.

Well, the rookie cards will always be more collectible than a regular base card, which is why a 2004 Favre card, while the most expensive base card, is far from the most expensive card in the set. From that same set, Ben Roethlisberger's base autographed rookie card is $200 - $400 and the rookie Gold Refractor parallel has a multiplier of 2.5X - 6X, so Big Ben's parallel RC ranges from $500 - $2400... except the price guide specifically sets it at $350 - $600. That is really only a 1.5X multiplier (card prices are based off the high price). So even then, making the correlation, the Masterpiece figure shouldn't command THAT high of a price.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
Well it seems to me sports cards in general aren't worth anything nowadays wherein comic/fantasy collectors need there collectables NOW and are willing to pay da big bucks moreso than sports collectors. As for moding advice maybe some tips such as *cut away from your hand* should always be thrown in for good measure (lil kids can read too ya know). And as far as announcing your intentions to quit plastic crack I don't agree with frontman. Wizkids needs to know that they need to do a better job or lose money period.

Well, I got sanctioned with more WPs for "being disrespectful" and "rude" in my post for this column.
Lessons learned:
Don't "agree" or "disagree" too strongly about anything here, even if they (the admins) suggest you do so.
Keep it mild, polite, non-confrontational, and extremely bland, no matter what.
Only the Mods have the right to have a "strong point of view". Don't have one of your own.
"Constructive Discussion" is a vague, nubulous notion here, as each Mod has a wildly different opinions of what exactly constitutes "constructive discussion" vs "disrespect and rudeness".
Like a speed trap, WPs are extremely easy to get. Always remember, go slow and tread very lightly here.

The only person responsible for your points are you. Learn from it, but after looking at posts that earned you your points, it's highly doubtful you ever will.

I think that when comparing the football cards(avid collector here also) to the masterpiece clix, you would be much closer doing a hot rookie(like Ben Roethlisberger) to an iconoic comic character like batman(bruce wayne, whatever). That is to say, if they made masterpiece figures of the whole set(like they made Gold refractor parallels) then, as a whole, they wouldn't bring as much in an auction as if there were only 1-3 figures(or players). Spidey and Batman are the "hot rookies" (even though they have figs released in every set). And also if they made masterpiece's out of every figure from the sets then lower tier character's masterpiece figures would not bring as much in as the top tier characters.(while Brett Favre is arguably a top tier player, in football cards, only the rookies and sometimes the numbered auto's and game-used stuff sell at a premium).
As for frontman's arguement about Jen Haley's "masterpieces". The reason her stuff doesn't bring about the level of money that a not-so-much "masterpiece" Batman or Spiderman brings, is simply a case of exposure and popularity. Jen Haley may be the best miniatures painter in existance, but I've never heard of her until now. My grandmother, my son, my wife, and family in Chile- have all heard of Spiderman and Batman. While personally, I agree with your point of these figures being WAY overvalued, I understand it completely. There are people with lots of money willing to pour it into a decently-painted, very limited heroclix figure with a certificate, because of their fondness for the character-or whatever it may be. Now say Ms(Mrs/ I have no idea) Haley were to paint half of the 50 masterpiece figures with a signature on the cert. I guarantee you those would bring even more in an auction for 2 reasons- they would look 50 times better and there would be a signature to go with it.
The third reason I decided to post on this thread is the harsh negativity I've been reading in some of these posts directed at the Frontman. WTF??!! people. I saw nothing even remotely worthy of these insults in this article. But I'm just a member who likes to mod and trade. These attacks seem to come from somewhere more personal than from the content of the article. Just an observation.
I just wanted to point out that Heroclix figs usually dont have as much detail as MK figs and other mini's. Its a lot easier to make a fig with more detail look more outstanding than one with less detail. Not to bash on Jen her stuff is awesome.
I dont see what the big deal is about Fantastic Forces. If you have a problem with 3 figs per box just by singles. It has always been more cost effective to do that anyhow. I know a ton of people that buy cases, and just cant fathom why they would spend $250 knowing they arent gonna get the whole set. Especially considering you can buy the whole set by singles for well under $200. The only reason I would ever buy a case is for trade bait and even then I doubt it will happen. As far as game play I personally think the giant figs are awesome and the double bases sounds like a cool new game feature as well. I cant wait for FF to come out and play the new figs. Talk about your innovation. Well ok not really since it is borrowed from other miniature games.
Just my 5 cents worth.

Some of us have been members longer but still don't have a single WP. We must be doing something wrong...
And funny...I've always felt I could constructively add to the discussion without being disrespectful.
If you're going to be man enough to post on this thread again after being shrugged off by everybody for your no value added comments...I would hope you'd bring something more to the table.
But Funky Jett said it best. Were you born in 66 or 86?
