Sluggo, I really like this thread and the idea of a New West Coast Avengers.
But you aren't posting to get feedback and generate discussion here, are you? Thus far the only feedback you've taken instead of outright shot down and shown how yours was superior was about the ones you'd already been debating.
I think I may be done here.

I've havn't done anything but say people were right about Strange and I'd take him off the team in a second, I've just defended guys liek Namor and Cloak and Dagger because I think they are great choices for a NWCA team. By you logic can I not say all you've done is shotdown my ideas and try to show me how yours are superior? Some ideas I've agreed with and said "ya,that guy shouldn't be there or could be off the team", others like Namor would add a lot to the book with their personalities and Power Level (and you've yet to come up with another guy on that power level to replace him, you want some decussion, suggest someone else).

Atlantis is also in the Atlantic, not sure how easy it'd be to justify Namor piddling arround on the West Coast
They are setting up another nation under the ocean, the enemy of Atlantis they are going after is in the Pacific, an artifat that Namor wants/needs is in the Pacific, a group of Atlantians (is that right?) is exploring the Pacific and disapear, they are following an Atlantian legend that started in the Pacific etc... Theres LOTS of reasons for him to be in the Pacific. Hercules isn't really ont hat "Namor" powerlevel, hes more on Warbirds level. And while there are some NA members getting a boost from the book (Luke Cage, Spider-Woman) there are also some big names like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Cap etc... The WCA would need the same mix, Namor (along with Hawkeye) is that guy on the team, you put Hercules on the team and its just a bunch of 2nd, 3rd or 4th tier hero's.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.

What are you talking about? Hercules is able to slug it out with Thor Mano-a-mano with no clear victor in the raw power/strength department.
He's a step above Namor (who is certainly extremely bad arse) in power. Thor has taken on both Namor and the Hulk at the same time, and raw brute strength cannot beat Herc.
Oh, and 2nd or 3rd stringer can't work? Umm, there's a little title called Thunderbolts that would like to argue that one. Oh, and there's this other one that can tell you all about where 2nd stringers can get to, it's called, I dunno, X-men (X-men were second string heros for a LONG time, and now look at them)
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
Hercules is not on the same level as the top guys, they have him step up for an issue or fight when they need him too, but hes not Namor.
The X-men WERE 2nd stringers (and they got canceled) but aren't anymore, not sure what you're point is there. The Thunderbolts were also canceled and the new series isn't in the top 25 selling (New AVengers is #2 this month), why are you aiming low? Look at the success of New Avengers, the team, which has a few old Avengers (Hawkeye, Warbird), a few lower tier heros (Cloak, Dagger, Blackcat, Ironfist), and some A-listers (Hawkeye, Namor). Why mess with that? They need a heavy hitter another A lister Namor fits both bills. This is susposed to be the governments Avengers, not the B-list team.

Got to agree with maniac here. Hercules is no slouch. He is in the same strength range as Thor. The problem is that the character sucks. He has no motivation, and mostly just hangs around on earth to have fun. He's Mt. Olympus' frat boy. He has the strength, but not any other powers or stratagy. That's what keeps him from being more of a threat.
Personally I hate both Hercules AND Namor. I just think the characters aren't very interesting, and neither would draw me to a book. But everyone has their own opinion.
I dont think LA is real enough for a book thats patterend off the New Avengers. Its too bright and fluffy. Spider-woman was based in SIFF for most of her time as a Super heroinne. Tigra was in LA for a while. Was ms marvel?
There are alot of forgotten groups out there adn smoe of them are affliated with the Avengers. The Rangers and the GLA: both affiliated and both covering the other borders of the US. The Night SHift was the Shrouds team. They were on the West Coast and hav eties wit WDA, Spider-woman and Tigra.
I dont know why Hawkeye would want to hang with the Averngers anymore. The T Bolts seem like his team more. I didn tlike how his cosutme was left like it was. Its jsut reminding me too much of DCs green Arrow.
The selfish infect us all with sad, vulgar, sexual references and a constant barage of innapropriate innuendo. A pity to be subjected to this against our wills, but to allow it into our lives with open arms shames us all

Once I get my Marvel Hand books back I'm checking hte powerlevel thing, but aside from that you'd want a guy who "sucks" over Namor, one of the oldest, most classic Marvel characters. Wow.

Somehow I don't see Namor working for the government!
As I said, he'd be there for his own reasons - for those of you who have read the Dragonlance books, he'd be the Raistlin of the group.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.

No I wouldn't. I don't like either character. Still hoping for a cool 3rd option

For the powerlevel there might be a couple other otpions - Captain Marvel (Mar Vell....whatever) if hes still alive, I'm not sure. But he doesn't carry the weight that Namor does.

Mar-vell Looked cool, but I never read any of his stuff. I still guess I would want someone with the "wow" factor, someone of the likes of Iron Man or Thor. DC has more powerhouses, and I'm having trouble thinking of a good Marvel one that hasn't been either overexposed, or rightfully locked away in a closet to rot.
Sorry, despite the fan base he has here, I just don't like Namor. Too me he's like an angry Aquaman, with a worse costume and no real powers.
Looking through a list, I think I would be more interested in, Captain Britain, Darkhawk (little weak, but I like him), Nova, Quasar, Colossus (worked with Wolverine)

Captain Britain's powers are linked with him being in England. Darkhawk isn't really a heavy hitter. Quasar is basically Captain Marvel (isn't he dead?), Colossus...no.
Namor being angery and not the easist person to get along with is what makes him a great memeber for the team, like I said a team where everyone gets along is boring.

The Hulk is better for this. He's an eX Avenger, has real team work problems, is A list, and is friends with the Sentry.
So he could get placed there by the Sentry for a couple reasons.
a) Someone the Sentry trusts on the team (and thus a sort of spy, ie Sentry could come by every so often to check up and see what's going on)
b) feels he 'owes' Hulk a good turn after issue 3
c) wants Hulk to be arround other people
d) have someone to keep an eye on the Hulk

I thought the Captain Britain Uniform allowed him his powers away from England? I could be wrong.
Quasar took over for Marvel, but got different wristbands. His powers were much more like (ripped off from) Green lantern. Mar-vell was a blaster, while Quasar makes the cool shapes.
