I played a 4 way game this weekend, and myself and 1 other were using ICwO with her on the card. All 4 of us had a different interpretation of how the card worked.
Just wondering, what part of the card did you guys have the different interp on?
Life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.
In many threads on this forum, as well as games I've played, I'm shocked at how often people missinterpret (or get just plain wrong) what ICwO does.
Is the card really that confusing?
No, but the game is. I played the ICWO card wrong for a good while before it was pointed out to me by a judge that my figure needed to perform an action to modify its combat value (I was using it to up defense on figs that hadn't done anything on a turn). Sure, it's stated pretty clearly on the card isn't it? I should've seen it, or paid attention what I was reading. But one should note that it wasn't my opponent who called me on it, so it wasn't just me.
This game is full of little details like that.--Witness the discussion elsewhere about Pulse Wave, Nova Blast and base adjacency. Sometimes I feel like there are a ton of little "gotchas" waiting to show up just when I least expect it. Hair-splitting action types are another area of confusion. As much as Feat cards add to the game, they bring a lot of extra rules along with 'em. --I mean look at the ICWO card, WizKids can hardly fit all the text on the thing, never mind some comic art that Warners won't let 'em use anyway.
Well, a lot of elements in the game would be hard for someone to understand right away.
(Ranging in close combat is ok for flyers, but toss a couple grounded figs and the rule changes. Also, Outwitting someone in stealth if you're adjacent.)
But if you have a good grasp of the game in general, the card should be reasonably clear... yes?

Ah, with her on the card!
Now THAT would honestly throw me for a loop as well. Because I've never done that, nor seen anyone else do it. Ever. The part about using a power action to turn her dial makes a lot of sense, but after that it's about as clear as my windshield is in the morning.

I've seen people who don't get it simply because they didn't read the card very carefully. For example, one guy thought when you turned oracle's dial to a power that ALL the agents got that power. I had to set him straight on that. I've also seen a lot of people miss the fact that you have to turn Oracle's dial at the beginning of your turn in order to use her powers. And another time one guy didn't even know you had to give an action to activate the +1 to stats part of the card. He thought it was a free action just like perplex. Needless to say, he obviously didn't read the card very well.
But as one of the cards with the most text ever in Heroclix, can you really blame people for not getting it the first time? Unless it's explained correctly the first time, it's easy for newbies to get confusing and misinterpret the rules.

First time blunder doesn't bother me.
It's when they've been playing the card a couple months and they still don't understand it is when it starts to bother me.
In two months (or more) no one has given them a heads up on how the card really works?

It's usually the player the only plays occasionally and doesn't come every week that gets confused on the rules and doesn't realize he was playing it wrong until someone catches him doing it. The regulars have the card down pretty well though. It's just the newbies didn't have anyone to speak up and say "no, it works this way" to show them how it works. And it just goes to show that the card can be confusing for new players because of all the text in it and the timing issues involved with it. Until they get some first hand experience in tournaments with it, they may be playing it wrong at home.

Anything to a new player is confusing. But what I'm saying is that they should know after using the card a few time. The first time, sure, mess it up.
I think players don't pick the brain of the Judges enough. I've seen players where I play come and ask the judge how stuff works before trying to use it 'cause its better finding out before a game than in the middle how something really works.
Is that really hard to do?

Ah, the balance is restored.....
What with you & my junk? Is that an obsession of your.
This is from the FAQ for DC.
In Contact With Oracle
• If Oracle is removed from the battlefield and placed on the In Contact With Oracle feat card
her team ability cannot be copied by figures with wildcard team abilities.
• Free actions may not be used to give an Agent the +1 to its combat values.
• The +1 to combat values that Agents gain is applied immediately when the action is given.
• When an Agent already has a power showing on its dial that Oracle has, it may not be granted
that same power from Oracle.
• Oracle grants the Agent the power that is showing on her dial. The power that the Agent has
been granted can be countered. If the Agent is KOd, the effects of the power are lost.
• If Oracle is placed on the feat card and she survives the battle, the controlling player receives
victory points for her.
Now the war of lights begins...... A black Lantern will rise.... Who will it be? Find out in Green Lantern 2009
I understand it just fine but I've played lots of people who don't, especially when you have agents and use the Oracle on the card. And I still see people who don't take the action (to get one of the Oracle's powers) AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR TURN.
