I can still have hopes! I hate Mac Gargan Venom so much, though.
And didn't Eddie Brock supposedly commit suicide?
Last I heard, he'd given up the suit (which had been helping him survive cancer as how as he had) for that auction. Hence the hospitol bed. And I really hope he gets the symbiote back too. Leave Gargan in his own crappy suit!

Yea, I have the issue when he auctions it off. Venom was one of my favorite Spiderman enemies, and taking away a classic Spiderman villain (Scorpion), putting him into another villain's suit, and calling him Venom is the worst idea possible.
I love Mac, but I love Mac as Scorpion. I hate that they took the symbiote away from Brock. I'm glad it was shown that he was still alive, though. It gives me hope that he'll get it back after the Beyond mini.
BTW, After Brock auctioned off the symbiote, he did slit his wrists and was shown dying in an alley. I'm glad someone grabbed him up and didn't let that be his end.
"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."

Perhaps the girl Hawkeye in Young Avengers is the return of Hawkeye that they'd eluded to. I mean, they'd just hinted that Hawkeye would be back, right? Did anyone ever say that it would be Clint, or did everyone just assume that it would be Clint?
I always thought that they would call her Targette and then she would have the red and white bullseye on her and she would do corporate sponsorship to pay the team's bills.
Every relationship is fundamentally a power struggle, and the individual in power is whoever likes the other person less.

Eh, Gargan has had many a Scorp suit, even that last one he never used, Osborn gave it to him.
I hate the retcon about Brock having cancer. It's not as annoying as soe of the recent retcon's (I still did NOT need to see Gwen and Norman doing the horizontal rhumba).
And does ANYONE like Gargan as Venom? I wonder who came up with that cruddy story anyways.
It was Mark Millar. And personally I'd like to see someone more interesting get the symbiote. I'd say who I'm thinking of in particular, but that would ruin my super awesome idea that I hope to use one day.

When did Mac become Venom? And I mean issue number. I've always been a big fan of Scorpion's. He's one of my faorite Spidey villains. But isn't it a woman now?

I don't remember the issue number, and I don't really want to spend an hour going through my collection of Spiderman comics to find it, and then spend another 2 hours reading ones that I forgot I had. It was, I think, 1 or 2 years ago. Eddie auctioned off his suit. And the girl Scorpion now is Scorpia.

Thanks!
BTW, I thought that the ASM issue was WAY better than the New Avengers issue.
I like how Peter got sick, after following through with something that he had internally debated for years. I like how Reed was right there to support him. While I think it was genuine, I think it was more of a means to help Pete feel secure in his decision, so that there is no back peddling when things get rough.
I love the vilain's reactions, and Vulture's comment summarized things quite well. I also liked how Pete reacted towards Iron Man, after the announcement of the taskforce.
One thing that confuses me. I'm not reading FF, but I thought that the group was supposed to be split in their support for/against the Registartion Act? In this issue, we see three of them (assuming that Johnny is still in the hospital here) on Iron Man's taskforce. What gives?

Sue is helping the resistance 'secretly' or, uh, 'invisibly'.

The issue where Mac becomes Venom is Marvel Knights Spider-Man #10 or #11, I can't quite remember and I'm feeling pretty lazy myself. I know nothing about the new Scorpion aside from the orginal Scorpia being pretty lame from the mid 90s.

All I remember of the issue was it was one of the early issues of the MK Spider-Man title, with Aunt May's latest kidnapping (she does that so often, that, and "dies" . I swear, shes' died more times then Wolvie makes appearances in other books not his own in a year).
I'm REALLY looking forward to the rest of Civil War and the ASM tie-in issues.
Especially once I snuck a peek at the covers of Amazing 534, 535, and 536.
Spidey is just playing Iron Man. He is actually on Captain America's side but is going to reveal his duplicity later in the series. There is no way he is truly in with Tony on on this one.
Wow, that's an amazing way to dupe everyone. It's a good thing he was only pretending to be on Iron Man's side, otherwise he would have unmasked for real...
That's my indirect way of saying he's probably going to defect upon seeing the light rather then that proposed theory.
