I don't really see Warpath becoming Wolverine by giving him a pair of knives, they just added something to his character so hes not just the "standard, tough, super strong hero". They give him "something", its not ground breaking or charater altering or anything, but its something.
And I don't want to see Vulcan join the X-Men, its never any "fun" with a character that powerful joins a team, they make better villians.
My assumption if they brought in Vulcan is they would down grade his powers. If not, then I agree, heroes shouldn't be as powerful as the villians they fight. As for the whole Warpath and knives thing, I think it goes a long way in making him more of a Native American super hero, I am all for the knives!
I felt like the knives WERE introduced as characters. I just fear they'll become what Warpaths all about. Maybe I'm just making too much of them. I do trust Brubaker, I just didn't see the point of giving him knives.
So that Warpath isn't just the big, tough, strong guy. Theres something different about him.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
Yes, because giving him knives that can cut through anything doen't make him like anyone else...
So any character with a blade is a Wolverine rip off? Thats like saying any character with mental powers is a Prof X rip off, or any super strong guy is a Superman clone.

So what does everyone think about the line up of the other X-Men title? I'm personally not a fan of Sabretooth or Mystique as X-Men.
Sabretooth is my favorite Marvel character, but I'm not too keen on the idea of him being an X-Man. I like it when he's bad. As I said before, the last time I remember seeing him, was when The New Brotherhood attacked the mansion, and Exodus was their leader. Wolverine had sliced Victor into bits, and scattered him all over the property.
As for Mystque, she's a cool character, but I'm indifferent to her status as an X-Man.

yeah it would be nice if one Summers brother stayed, at the very least, as an anti-hero that comes into conflict with the X-Men from time to time. Sort of like Sunfire. Remember Havok has flip-flopped as a good guy/bad guy almost his entire existence. Cyclops has been a good guy. As a third brother, Vulcan could be the guy that straddles the line, and it could make for some interesting conflicts between the three.
Your comment on Warpath rings true. I think adding more to his arsenal, instead of making him your typical brick (the X-Men already have that in Colossus and Juggernaut), goes a long way to making him what he has striven to be-a warrior.

Cable came on long (essentially)after I stopped reading comics. Before I started up again 4 years ago, my memories of Cable were as an infant in Inferno!
Since then, I can only think of 3 specific instances that I've read anything with him in it: 2 issues of Cable/Deadpool which were a prelude to the recent Apocalypse arc, and his appearance in Civil War #2. So I wouldn't be the best judge of character for such things. Sorry.

Look if you don't see it, that's fine. We are not going to see eye to eye on this. Chocolate and Vanilla.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
Just to expand on the Warpath is Wolvie statement, Warpath now has blades that can cut through anything. You can't deny it seems weird that they gave him something like that.
come on man!
first, they're Vibranium, not Adamantium, and those two fictional metals have different properties. For example: a super scientist who gets his hands on those blades might be able to make A Vibranium bomb! Try doing that with Adamantium!
plus, look at it this way: what are Warpath's powers? He's a super-Indian. He has the exact same powers as his older brother (very, very odd in the Marvel Universe actually!) and those powers are all things that make him not just superhuman, but super-Indian. (i've actually been told by some that they prefer Injun, as that is less inacturate... something they were called as opposed to an erroneous misnomer...aaaanywho: )
so what would you have them give him? Unstoppable bow & Arrow? the knives are stylish, they fit his aesthetic, and they arn't cheesy like a bow and arrow would be.
