Love the review. I'm actually just starting heroclix, i pulled a U scarlet spider in my second pack and really want to use him some time. I pulled a V Daredevil in my first though, His lower points make me want to give him a shot first. But i personaly like the spidey fig better, costume and all.
Cool article. Just one thing concerning those Plasticity clicks at the end, though. While they may seem poorly placed since you'd be thinking about running instead of tying someone up in combat, remember that Plasticity also helps you when breaking away. Sure, Leap/Climb would be a more useful choice, but Plasticity has a dual purpose there, esepcially if you're playing Entangle (which I highly recommend).
I love playing clix like Scarlet Spider and Exp War Machine who, although mediocre in the AV department are consistent enough to be pushed over and over again.
I'd recommend Double Time on him and here's why. You can keep him on his first click with the RCE, but that golden click is the 2nd for my tastes. Outwit and 3 NATURAL damage over the 2+RCE damage...no contest in my book.
DO NOT just use it right in the beginning of the game. You'd be suprised at how many guys/girls out there don't read this boards, and don't know these dials like we do. Wait till they put someone in Outwit range and then DT onto the outwit.
Just last week I was playing with a SpideySquad. I had an opponent move up with Wonder Woman into range of a pounce with my E Ult Spidey, but he had back-up waiting and was ready to run back to his medic. I DTimed into position with my outwit, he lost his Impervious, I came in with the Lamppost, and she never got out alive.
My Scarlet Spidey also had Nanobots, lose two clix after the outwit is gone, then just grab an item and pop back onto it. Only used it twice though, so it may have been wasted points.
ANYWAY, I digress. For only 5 pts, DT is a great feat for Ben. Try it, I bet you'll like it.
I was totally out of the Spidey scene during the clone conundrum, so I've got no attachment to the character itself (unlike, say the black costume Spidey as I enjoyed Web of Spider-man when it started). But he was a major annoyance to face in the pre-release and marquee. The 17 with Super Senses when I had no easy ways to counter it (Poison, Outwit, PW, etc. are hard to secure in sealed don'tchaknow) tended to make me ignore him rather than target him. I was lucky in that we were on the prison map and Spider-Sweatshirt was based most all of the time, so he wasn't sniping me a lot. It was also interesting to see a piece that at the time could always use Vendetta (well, assuming the other team had someone more expensive).
He is great in sealed play. At Gencon, my son drew him in a Battle Royale. Scarlet Spider did by far the best of any piece in the two games--much better than the Black Bolt I drew, for example.
Ever seen Jack Knight? The guy threw on a coat, hopped on his Star Rod and got going. The Scarlet Spider's sporting spandex. SPANDEX. You tell me that's easy to get on, and I'll call you loony.
I do find I'm warming to this fig more than I ever did to the Clone Saga hoo-hah. He's a not-bad little Spidey-type.
However, since he is becoming a little more popular now (due a bit to this review, for example), I have more opportunity with my LE Venom, fresh from the post-office elves.

I have figured out a better way for him to have outwit and stay on his first click I have used this many times with great results, teaming him up with a rke ht robin rke intergang agent workquite well just m,ake sure you ahve some main attackers this way scarlet spider is more of a harrasser then a main attacker which is how I play him
