I'm a little sad to hear this because....well I am afraid they will do a cheap revival to get him back in the suit.
Eddie Brock has Cancer and last we saw him he was a decrepit man in a hospital bed near death (he looked old and worn out by this time in his depiction a few months ago)
Actually, IIRC, he committed suicide (on panel, but in silhouette) to 'end his pain' in one of the last Mark Millar Marvel Knights 'Spider-Man' issues.
I'm kind of bummed that they're not going to go with the Mac Gargan Venom for at least a bit longer, as I was really respecting Marvel and their editorial decisions to not necessarily let the movies and 'outside concerns' dictate too heavily what the contents of their books would be (for instance, not derailing Bendis and Maleev's wonderful 'Out' storyline when the Daredevil movie came out, and there'll be a whole new FF line-up when 'Rise of the Silver Surfer' hits theaters this June). But you win some and lose some, I guess, and I know a lot of Venom fans see this as a win! I'm glad that you get your boy back!
Hopefully, this'll mean that we'll get to see the Scorpion every once in a while, too...
Take care,

Yeah! That was it! Now that you mention it, I don't recall if someone stopped him or not... heh... Whoops. Better read it a bit more carefully next time...
Maybe the Symbiot has "reproduced" again and that was what Mac was wearing all this time, or one stick around with Eddie. It would be a way to do it without need to play a WTF Joe Q BFC
Or they could of cloned venom Again.

Acually, they kind of left it hanging. Shows him in shadows of an alley slitting his wrists, but then they jumped to a different scene and they never revealed what happened next. People "assumed" Eddie died, but it was never verified.

Personally, I hate Venom. For a long time, since they started retconning things way back when. The symbiote was supposedly only able to produce one offspring ever. Awhile later, not only was their Carnage, but several others, all born of Eddie's symbiote. That was when I started to dislike Venom. Too many retcon's since then.
Also, same goes with Carnage. the original Carnage died, tossed into the sun by the Silver Surfer (not Sentry). Cletus found another symbiote in the negative zone. That's the current Carnage, and yet, they talk about it like it was the same one, and it has the same powers (it had previously been stated it's powers were derived from Venom and from it's place of birth (Earth) whereas the new one was not born on Earth, it should've been different to some extant), and Brock even refered to it as if it was the same old one back when Carnage was due to give "birth" to what became known as "Toxin".
Maybe they are just leading us on to Eddie becoming Venom again. The symbiote that Mac has is probably tired of getting "shocked" everytime it tries to kill. If i remember correctly the symbiote shouldn't let nanities control it (just doesn't make sense).
Maybe a piece of Carnage fell from space and Eddie somehow gets ahold of it and now goes around collecting pieces of himself to get stronger (that would be a great story).
Currently the only symbiotes left (and I don't know what happened to some) are:
Venom (Mac Gargan)
Toxin
Scream (some girl named Donna)
Hybrid (used his powers in an awesome way)

When Spider-Man outed himself they showed Eddie in the hospital decrepit and looking like he was 80!! So I think he is still alive!!
