I'm buying ASM like I always have..pre Q. So there's no influx in the positive for him.
However , I think the accurate statement was the comment on being on the phone with Avi.....who doesn't work for Marvel Films anymore. He quit. RIght before Ghost Rider.
But the sentiment is right. It's all about adapting the characters to coincide with the movies. They aren't separate anymore. And that's a shame.
Can't wait for all the Venom and Sandman tie-ins. And his black suit which had been webbed in a corner for years and years. Oh...wait. They're already here.
You know, I've been less than thrilled with the direction of Marvel lately but at least we know Reed Richards can clone Cap as easily as he could clone Thor! Cloninal America here we come!
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

Actually, it'll be Clonal America... but they'll make it Colonel America. He can then become President, and THEN THE ZOMBIES WILL EAT EVERYONE!
But I have to chime in agreement with Rokk, the crash of the 90s is looming large in my mind as I see all the carp out there on the comic stands. :cross-eye

You know, I hear a lot of complaints about Marvel and Joey Q. But when I talk to people in the comic book store in person, or talk wtih other comic geeks, I never hear any complaints. If anything, I see Marvel selling better. While there are tons and tons of creative differences people online have with Joey Q... he did re-vitalize Marvel. Mavel is still selling. They're no longer on the verge of bankruptcy and what not. I may not like the decisions he makes [such as what he's done with Spider-Man] but you have to give him props for stirring conversation. I know a lot of people are dropping Marvel in protest, but you know, at least it's stirring a reaction. Whether it's a good or bad reaction, it's still better than no reaction. I maybe the minority here on the net to say this [although not the minority in the comic book stores around me], but I think Joey Q is doing a pretty good job of at least keeping Marvel afloat. While his decisions may not be agreeable, he shouldn't be fired if his performance in a business sense [such as raking in profit] shows no problems. I mean, Marvel is still a business trying to make money. Unless there's a huge drop in sales, I don't think he should be fired.
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
To be serious about it I have been very displeased with Marvel's current direction. I really didn't like the train wreck that was Civil Wart. The killings of Captain America and Bill Foster were pointless. The huge amount of Avengers titles that will be on the market is just plain dumb.
There have been some good spots though. Annnihilation was awesome. She-Hulk is usually pretty good. The Hulk was good before Planet Hulk and it looks like it will be good for the World War Hulk story. Exiles is on and off at best (at least recently).
I still collect my regular monthly titles...but am not overly pleased with them.
At first I really liked Civil War. But now that I think about it, I realized it has painted marvel into a corner, all the storyline will revolve around super hero registration up and probably until after World War Hulk. But you never know, they might paint themselves a way out with WWH. We'll see. Until then I will read my Marvel Fanboy friend's comics.
H/W Updated Weekly
"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."
True, creatively speaking, Marvel has seen better days. Civil War was a disaster. It seemed like Millar, Starczynski, Bendis... all had entirely different, conflicting versions of the story that they wanted to tell.
The saddest thing is, Civil War wasbasically a good idea with a terriblr execution. The concept of Iron Man and Captain America being at odds over something like that could have made for some very good comics. It just seems like nobody bothered to tell the writers of the tie-ins that Stark was not supposed to the villain of the story.
As for Aunt May, she lives, and is merely in a coma. And I bet a Marvel zombie that when she gets out of it she will no longer remember that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Captain america was going to die regardles. Civil War or no. According to an interview with Ed Brubaker anyway. And Cap wasn't simply killed by a sniper, he was shot because he purposely threw himself in the line of fire to protect some SHIELD agent. And then was shot three times at point blank range by a mindcontrolled Sharon Carter. Presumably, this all will tie into the Red Skull's plan to get a new body.
But you all sound like nobody ever died in comics before Quesada came along. I can't even think of a major character who hasn't been dead at some point in time.
Also, everybody seems to credit Quesada with near-omnipotent authority with regards to what does and doesn't happen in the Marvel Universe. I would think that Dan Buckley has a lot more to say on what goes and what doesn't than Quesada, if the massive shift in tone in Marvel books when Buckley replaced Jemas is anything to go by.
Joey Q' treat our dear Marvel characters as his #####s . He just take the money, threat and kill as his will. and of course he don't even care about the "customers". :cross-eye

Do you REALLY want to bet?
Boycotting Marvel since One More Day
Boycotting DC since Damian Wayne and the Pu52
Never boycotting Hcrealms. Ya'll are too much fun!
My main problem with Joe Q is that he lets Bendis and Millar do whatever it is that they want. For crying out loud Joe, put your foot down once in a while and don't let Bendis make Omega Red into a cheesy russian gangester for 3 panels in the Ultimate U!
Certainly, Mister J.Q. and Mr Bendis have been resposnible for some truly attrocious story lines and themes, IMHO.
The problem with Marvel at the mo' is there is no (or very little) competant editing. As mentioned above, Civil War COULD have been a good storyline. However, it is HUGELY let down by rubbish characterisation (NO WAY is that Tony, just compare him to the way he's written in the Thunderbolts Crossovers), poor scripting (Mar-Vel ? MAR-VEL ??? Please...), and a lack of continuity with the existing Marvel Mythos.
Ultimates works because it is NOT Marvel-Earth.
I'm not saying that J.Q and Mr Bendis arn't capable - they are - but their talents need keeping in check by an editor who understands and cares about the Marvel mythos...which, it appears, they do not.
However, the sack ? Won't happen. They are both percieved as "fan-favourites", and are making money for the company.
We're looking at short term cash gains, as against long term creative competence. All the garbage WILL be retconned eventualy, but probably only when doing so will make money.
(... Wanda and Sentry get together, read Destiny's books, say WHAT ??? and "go Cosmic", realigning things to The Way They Should Be. Again.)
( -grin- )
LoL
