free) "Look, the X-rejects are coming out to play, let's not disappoint them!" Vertigo laughs coldly, amping up her powers in anticipation. Vertigo perplexes her own range up to 7

free) "Time for a little sleight of 'and" Gambit whispers, picking up and charging a handful of rubble. With a sweeping motion he hurls the charged pepples, which sails over the heads of Valkyrie and Meggan and detonates just behind them. The distraction causes the two heroes to leap forward ever so slightly, right into the optimal range of Vertigo!

1) "Hang in tight girls! You're in for the ride of your lives!" Vertigo yells, unleashing everything she's got towards the wolf-girl and the warrior woman. Vertigo rolls for Meggan's shapechange, roll is: 3. 10 atk. vs 18 and 16 def. Needs an 8 for both and a 6 for Meggan, roll is: (1,5) for a 6 and a hit on Meggan who gets a token. 1 SA for Vertigo, 1 AST for Gambit.

1) "You have your orders, do NOT fail!" Malice hisses as she hurls Riptide through the cave towards Captain Britain and Nightcrawler. Polaris TK's Riptide to C14

2) Screaming and giggling at the top of his lungs, the homicidal mutant launches a veritable avalanche of razored spikes and stars at the battered and wounded Captain Britain. 7 atk. vs 13 def. Needs a 6, roll is: (3,2) for a 5 and a miss. Second attack is: (4,1) for yet another five and another miss (OH COME ON!!!). Riptide takes 1 from the push and I bang my head against the wall repeatedly in frustration!

2) "Nice show girls, but this ain't over by a longshot yet!" Vertigo yells, unloading everything she's got at Valkyrie and Meggan. Vertigo rolls for Meggan's shapechange, roll is: 4.

Distracted by Gambit's diversion, both women are struck head-on by Vertigo's insidious powers and stop in their tracks as if they'd run headfirst into an adamantium wall. "Hey 'Scalp, can we get a little help back here?" Vertigo yells, this ain't gonna hold them for long!"

Scalphunter doesn't answer, but instead spins around to face Nightcrawler, slamming a fresh magazine into his gun while drawing a combat knife. "Alright X-man, let's see what you got!" He spits with a grim scowl.

Gambit shrugs, tossing a charged card at his fellow X-man, Nightcrawler's, back. The agile mutant easily avoids the attack, but his dodge leaves him wide open to Scalphunter... free) "Might as well give you a hand while I'm here" Vertigo grins, catching the Fuzzy Blue Elf flatfooted with a surge of psionic bewilderment. Vertigo perplexes Scalphunter's damage up to 4

2) "I'm not impressed!" Scalphunter scowls, "But then again, that's hardly suprising, considering you got taken down by Riptide last time we danced! With the speed of a striking snake, Scalphunter lunges at Nightcrawler, blade in hand. 10 atk. vs 16 def. Needs a 6. Roll is: (5,2) for a 7 and a hit! Super-senses roll for Nightcrawler is: 3. Kurt takes 4, 1 SA for Scalphunter and one AST for Vertigo.

Caught on the wrong foot by Gambit's sneak-attack and too disoriented from Vertigo's meddling to teleport, even Nightcrawler's amazing reflexes and agility proves insufficient against Scalphunter. With practiced ease the mutant murderer buries his serrated combat-knife to the hilt between two of Kurt's ribs, cruelly twisting the blade in the wound to add injury to injury.

3) "Hah! This is how I like my victims!" Riptide giggles, "Bleeding, defenseless and on their knees! Say goodnight fuzball, 'cause this time I won't go easy on you!" Riptide cackles madly as he moves in for the kill. Riptide moves to E13

Yeah, can't say I wasn't pleased to see that Scalphunter landed that blow, and made it stick! While the figure representing him might have changed, he's still the one who pulls all the real weight for the Marauders!

Vertigo desperately lashes out with her powers, unleashing waves of disruption and disorientation all around her. Ready for it this time, Valkyrie easily shrugs off the effect, but the badly wounded Nightcrawler is not so lucky... Vertigo perplexes Riptide's damage up to 2

1) "Back to Hell you go little devil!" Riptide giggles insanely as he throws himself upon Nightcrawler becoming nothing but a frezied blur of spikes and stars. Riptide flurries Nightcrawler, 7 atk. vs 15 def. Needs an 8. Roll is: (3,3) a 6 and a miss (no suprise there). Second roll is (6,6) a 12 and a critical hit (who are you, and what have you done with my Riptide?)! Nightcrawler takes 3 for the KO and is injured. 1 SA, 1 KO and 1 from the push for Riptide!

Too exhausted and wounded to get out of the way in time, Nightcrawler is caught up in Riptide's whirlwind and cut to the bone is a ghastly example of Deja Vu. Only Scalphunter's harshly barked orders makes Riptide pull back in time, leaving Kurt critically wounded and hovering at death's door.

2) "Ouch! Dat ain't no way for a petite mademoiselle to behave, now is it?" Gambit tries to shake off the effects of Meggan's blow and retaliate with a charged card. Gambit tries to shoot Meggan, shapechange roll is: 1. 7 atk. vs 16 def. Needs a 9. Roll is: (3,3) for a 6 and a miss.

Terribly sorry about that injury, but wow, talk about Deja Vu. I don't know if you ever read the original Mutant Massacre, but down in the Morlock Sewers, this was pretty much exactly what happened to Nightcrawler! He was too slow from previous wounds to teleport away from Riptide in time and was caught up in his whirlwind, which injured him so gravely it put him in a coma for several months! Talk about history repeating itself

Nice Move. Don't worry about the Critical Hit. I can rest Nightcrawler next game. But pretty cool that we can relate the attack back to comics.

Ouch! Those ladies sure don't mess around, poor Vertigo...

Marauders: Turn 8

1) "Hm, she's not bad with that blade of hers at all, I think this situation is best solved from arms length. Let's see how good you are at blocking bullets babe!" Scalphunter quickly modifies his pistol into a high-powered rifle and leaps to the edge of the debris for a clear shot. Scalphunter makes a running shot to E14, aiming at Valkyrie. 10 atk. vs 17 def. Needs a 7. Roll is: (3,6) a 9 and a solid hit! Valkyrie takes 2 after toughness, 1 SA for Scalphunter.

Scalphunter's aim is true as always, and the large calibre bullet strikes Valkyrie straight between the shoulderblades. The power of the shot sends the Asgardian goddess crashing face-first to the ground, though it clearly didn't knock all of the fight out of her by far.

Gambit swallows and hopes desperately that some luck is headed his way and Riptide cackles madly with insane glee over his fallen foe.
