If my opponent want's to see my special power, I'll hold the card up for him with my fingers covering over the rest of the card, problem solved.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I have compilied the "special powers" and printed them out. Name of the character, the power and what stat it is on. We had a bit of an issue at the venue I frequent, the judge said if you dont have the character card you cant use the special power even if you memorized it, granted he forgot his feat cards and proxied them but we wont get into that. Hopefully this handy dandy "special power" sheet will quell some of the character card forshadowing issues.
I think that if the opposing player asks to see the card, you should have to show it. If they want to understand how the power works, they should not have to have everything memorized for each piece.
However...
In my most recent game, I was using Molecule Man, and I pushed him until he got his item eliminating power, so I could blow up an object that a stealthed Wasp was hiding in.
After pushing to the click I needed, I did not announce that I had this new power. When I eliminated the object that my opponent's Wasp was standing on, he was surprised and upset with me for not having announced that I had this new power.
Personally, I do not think that I have an obligation to announce special powers when my pieces have them activated. If an opponent asks what they are, I am more than happy to explain how the power works, but I would not announce any other power changes on my pieces, why should I announce the special powers?
Am I wrong with this?
I agree. There is nothing wrong with what you did here. It's a common strategy to push to a "better click" on certain figs, and if your opponent isn't checking the new stats when a dial is clicked, it's his own stupid fault.

I agree with this as well. This "new aspect" may help out some newer players to know what powers they may face later... but not the stats they may face later. Most experienced players will already know what they're facing when they see the figures.
What I think would be perfectly acceptable is to stack all of your Character Cards in a pile. If your opponent asks to see one (which should only be needed for Special powers and/or to verify keywords), show them.

And you don't have to worry as much about errata issues (as you can have the "correct" version on the sheet). The only problem would be that someone could challenge it if it's not from an "official source" (the challenge won't hold up if it matches the card, of course)
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
Surprisingly, no one seems to have thought of the OTHER side of this argument. We know we're not supposed to click through the dials at any time to see what clicks are coming next. However, what's to stop you from looking at the card and getting a quick mental reminder of "Oh yeaaaaaaaah! That's on there!" hmm? Once you break it down to movement, attack, etc., the powers on the cards DO seem to be arranged in the order they appear on dials, not by the order they appear on the PAC.

In all fairness, you should know that about your own figures anyway. There are no stats listed, so that doesn't make a difference, but you should at least take a look at the dial of a new figure before you play it (note, BEFORE the games start) to know what you're dealing with. Doing otherwise needlessly adds more challenge than is neccessary.
I see the cards as a nice reminder of powerset while you're searching through your collection to see what you want to play... a much easier way of organizing instead of needing to dig through a box to compare a few figure's powers (although not stats).

Also, if he is running a "theme team", you would need to see his cards anyway. You should verify that they all share a common keyword and follow the conditions set by the rules. With keywords being a new mechanic, I can see LOTS of mistakes being made.
Its your opponent's responsibility to review the dials of any unfamiliar figures BEFORE the start of a match. & vice versa.
Let's just try & keep in mind that the character cards are meant to make the game's introduction easiability for new players. I'm sure we've all played against a newbie that takes forever in reviewing the PAC for each figure as it comes up, thus enabling at most maybe 4 or 5 turns per player.
If they request a look at the card before the game, no problem. If it's during the game but it's a question of the phrasing of a special power, I have no problem with that, either. Otherwise, I'll be reluctant to hand them over -- but won't flat-out refuse.
God is smarter than we are....

When my opponent wants to see one of my cards, I just hand the card to them. If I was the Heroclix Mr. Manners, that's what I would declare the new card etiquette to be. I don't see any real reason to try and keep this info secret.

I am waiting for the next super hero movie when someone pulls a card to enhance their own powers.all the cards BFC, FEATS are the reason several players i know do not play the game anymore. last weekend got stuck playing someone and i gave him the game because that is not the way the game should be played. lets have football games where the coach throws in EXTRA TEN YARDS< to win(cheat) the game

I mean no offense by this, but why not just play home games then? Seriously, then you can play any/all sets without the option of cards if you wanted to. You don't have to worry about anyone else using cards if you don't like them either.
Playing in tournaments today (aside from sealed games) almost requires the use of cardboard... it's as much a part of the game as cheap figures were in the first set... it's as much "cheating" as using a 6 point thug as a "meat shield" is.... you get the point.

Most superhero movies don't give us a good look at the godlike beings who are directing the action though. When we play heroclix, we get to see it from our point of view, we manipulate the actions of the characters, and as these all-knowing, godlike beings, we play the cards to enhance the characters powers. The characters cannot actually play the cards to enhance their own powers the way you describe.
It's a matter of perspective.
Plus, as I'm sure it has been pointed out to you before, you can choose to play with people who agree with you and just not use the cards at all.

That's a good point... you didn't get to see the big guy that played Jean Grey's "Super-Power up" card or "Release the inner beast" card to turn her into the Phoenix in X-Men 3

I've read a lot of opinions regarding what people intend to do, but nothing
definitive on what the legal obligations are.
Does anyone know if you have access to any of your opponents cards, at
any time?
If yes, does that mean you are also allowed to bring your own library of
cards, so that you can look at the cards relating to your opponents
figures at your leisure, without asking them for their own copy?
