Pogs suck and anything to lessen their value and playability is a good thing.
I'm glad pogs aren't getting keywords. Good call by Wizkids if you ask me.
I don't think Wizkids was intending to nuter pogs in the slightest. Why would they put 8 new ones in the Avengers Release if they were planing on aging out the game mechanic...{cough(arch)cough(enimies)cough}
Only a handful of heroic normals--I can only think of three, actually--died over the course of the Suicide Squad title.
True.... but in Heroclix, nobody ever "dies".... they just get knocked out
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
Personally, I think pogs should not get keywords (way too abuseable) but they shouldn't kill a theme-team either - if all the figs have the keyword it should count. That way Doug Ramsey could still be a part of the New Mutants, and them get their theme team bonus, but he doesn't count towards giving them additional probs, etc. Just seems fair that way.
The best sollution I can think of is to give them keywords, and if they match the theme then they don't count toward a theme or disqualify a theme. But if they dont match the theme then they do count against it.
For example, Detective Chimp can join his Shadowpact chums, or some Animal themed characters, and if they would otherwise count as a theme then they still do, but he doesn't count as a character for this purpose so they still need 3 other members and so on. If however he starts hanging out with an otherwise X-Men themed team then having a chimp mascot will count against their theme.
It might be a little confusing, but otherwise its yet another reason for me to be annoyed that Detective Chimp is a pog...

That sounds like a good idea in THEORY...... but I can already imagine how difficult it would be for younger players and/or new players to understand that. I think it's a lot easier to just leave it as it is and not have pogs with keywords, although a judge could house-rule it to work.

I think this sums up the problem. There are pogs out there who are/were active members of teams, and it seems ridiculous that people who want to play an accurate theme team are penalized because the only version of that character we have is a pog.
Some comic team theme-accurate pogs:
Misty Knight - Heroes for Hire, Daughters of the Dragon
Colleen Wing - Heroes for Hire, Daughters of the Dragon
Wild Sentinel - Robot, Sentinel
H.E.R.B.I.E. - Robot, F4
Doug Ramsey - New Mutants, Mutant
Jamie Maddrox - Mutant, Almost Every X-team
Sgt. Tork - Police
Lockheed - X-men, Excalibur
Harvey Bullock - Police, Checkmate, Gotham
L-RON - JLI, Superbuddies, Robot
Maggie Sawyer - Police, Metropolis, Gotham
Rene Montoya - Police, Gotham
Detective Chimp - Shadowpact
Oberon - JLI
Several others (like Franklin Richards, Wyatt Wingfoot & Amanda Waller) have been on actual missions with teams as well. And I'm sure this is not a complete listing.

I agree. And it was my idea.
I think you are right, having it as an unofficial house-rule is the best way to run it.
Which is on similar lines to my if-you-can-persuade-the-judge/other-player-that-your-team-is-theme-then-its-theme house-rule I'd like at my venue. After all looking at Young Superman's keywrds he's not going to share any with Krypto or the Superman Robot, and that should be a great 300 point team that feels more theme then a bunch of teenagers from across comicdom. but thats something for another thread.
So, right here, I have 22 points worth of Prob control.
Another grouping for 12 points on a F4 team.
Franklin Richards
H.E.R.B.I.E
Alicia Masters
So, unless they don't count towards the 3/100 and can't be used to place the token on, I wouldn't want to see it. As I said, I can understand why they don't have it

I agree... house rulings rulings between regulars at a venue would be a good way to go.
These rulings sometimes happen on a week by week basis where I judge to keep things fun for everyone (but are allways contingent on a vote by all the players during the team building process so that everyone has a chance to adjust accordingly)
EVERY POG DESERVES A CHANCE!!!
I know i would be heartbroken if i couldnt fit mary jane on spiderman theme... wait a second, there is no spiderman theme is there?!?

22 points of a team that still has to be all Robots, and a single use of PC at that.

Again, you're still going to have to have a minimum 88 points of other F4 people for a 100 point team, get only 1 use of PC, and neither Franklin nor Alicia were on my original list because they aren't regular "in the field" members of the F4, unlike Harvey Bullock with the GCPD or Lockheed with the X-men.

Fair enough, but there are plenty of people who don't want to see a comic-accurate theme team get shot down because the only representation of a character from the team they want to play is a pog (e.g. New Mutants)

Of course, WK could just make the character in to a figure, then everyone would be happy. :D
I think that Bystanders should neither count toward a theme or disqualify a theme.
I think they (BST) should be the Swiss of Non-clickable clix.
I agree with this. What if you want to throw Amanda Waller on your Suicide Squad on add Oberon to your Justice League America or New Gods team? What about poor Wendy and Marvin, forever left out of the Justice League?

That's a fairly elegant solution. I don't think it's especially complicated for new or young players, certainly less so than the Theme Team Ignore BFC rulings.
I don't know what the official ruling is but there are plenty of house rules to handle this. THe one I use is that if a pog has a TA he can join a theme team of the same name ie...JArvis on an Avengers theme team means he adds a character to the theme.Outside of that if it is true in the comics that the character in question is or was a member of the team in question..we rule that it counts toward establishing the theme.
