I thought I remember a post about LOF to the square, not the character too. But I can't back that up. It is currently being discussed with Game Design. See this link:
I want to side with LOF to the square, as his power references the terrain, and not to the character.
Oh, and Domi, sorry about not explaining it in my post. I thought it was a given. Guess I was wrong about that. I do enjoy your articles, so I hope to see this discussion continued in it. Thanks!
The reference to the square is for range purposes (i.e. 4 squares away).
Without the range reference, the power reads a character...to which mxy has LOF.
Which is just like every other ranged power. I dont see this as "special"...
Squirecam, After reading the power text for the umpteenth time, I can see where the confusion sets in. You may very well be right. Depending on where the emphasis is placed it can either reference the character, or the type of terrain.
The text starts off with MXY drawing LOF to a character, but ends with him drawing LOF to the square. See what I mean?
I can see this as a toss up and can't tell where it will land when the ruling comes back from GD via the RA. Of course, we have been getting some pretty interesting interpretions of Special Powers from them of late . . . but that's for another thread.
Heroclix is a strategy game with comic book characters where you can shoot sheep guns and quip with Spider-man and Deadpool. It is played by some of the nicest, most giving people on the planet. That is why I play Heroclix.

Yeah, I see where that could be confusing...
But Mxy has (normally) a 6 range. To me the 4 range reference is just that, reducing the SP's range from 6 to 4.
Assume the range would not be reduced from 6 to 4. The power would then read...
Quote
Attack - OBJECT ANIMATION: Give Mr Mxyzptlk a power action and roll a d6 for each opposing character that has zero or one action token to which Mr Mxyzptlk has a clear line of fire..
I think, although you could argue otherwise, mxy needs LOF to the character...
Wait, you mean you can't see that little button that says "PM GD" at the bottom of your posts, next to "edit" and "quote"? ... oh ...um... you must be one of the "sub-omegaloids". Sorry. Just forget I said anything.
/Note for the Alphans: Sorry for the slip up above. Agent 15-Ninevah-J, begin a cloudburst dump of memory suppresant Vasopressin-D54 over the central Ottawa area. We'll lose some politicians and some of our agents in CSIS, but it's worth it to keep The Secret safe. End communication. "Heute Die Welte, Morgen Das Sonnen-system".

The correct answer I believe is to the square not the character we debated this one also on the judges forum.
I will see if I can find Norms relevant answer.
I just checked, Norm never got back to us yet. He said he was taking the question to GD, although most of the prominent judges on the envoy forum broke the text down as drawing the LoF to the square not the character based on the placement of the commas in the Special Power.
I think that ruling will hold up, but you never know.

"A Jester unemployed is nobody's fool." - The Court Jester "And so he says, I don't like the cut of your jib, and I go, I says it's the only jib I got, baby!
The first part of the power just states the opposing characters must be within 4 squares of Mxy, no LOF is needed in this case, when it comes time to roll, the LOF is drawn to the squares, Mxy does bust stealth which is really the point of the character (He had other dimensional senses after all).
Object Animation (Mr. Mxyzptlk #41, Justice League)
Q: Does the character need to draw line of fire to the character that is 4 or fewer squares away or just the square that they are occupying? Specifically, will this power work against characters that are in hindering terrain and using Stealth?
A: The power only requires you to have line of fire to the square, not the character.

Well actually, unless things have changed since the last time I hit Seth's PM button, you really actually can't send Seth PM's. He's blocked 'em all.
sorry, but which FAQ are you referring to? I can't see, to access the one on the Wizkids forum and the last DC FAQ does not mention this...
can someone post the link for this?

If someone says 'FAQ', the are usually referring to the General FAQ (which he is. Specifically, page 27, in the 'Special Powers' section). The Universe specific ones are called Errata and Clarifications (E & C) documents (and people tend to call them 'DC E&C' to avoid this kind of confusion).

Well, SURE, if you want to trump my facetiousness with facts, then fine.
Seriously, I applaud your use of goofball characters. I knew you were destined for great things when you used Fastball Special against me. With Booster and Beetle no less.
I will demand a rematch someday, with my Marrina 'n' Ambush Bug All-Green All-Stars!
/After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things — terrible, yes, but great.

What's best is that if you are around the corner and I can't see YOU, but I CAN see the object/square NEXT to you, I can still git ya!
I'm pretty sure you have to see the square they're IN, not next to:

On a result of 3-6, give the character an action token.
