Kang just needs to come out of the tackle-box to work, each of the SN Kangs are great pieces.
In particular I like playing my Council of Kangs team.
I have enough of them to field well over 1000 points, but for 300 points it tends to look like this -
Kang (r) + Nanobots + Armour Piercing + Protected
Kang (r) + Armour Piercing
Kang (r)
= 299
They only lost the Featless Kang when they won me a tournie.
The prize that week was Nathaniel Richards*...
* Who is himself a great piece and when I played him he won me a tournie .
Wow you won with this? That's cool! How did you do it? I never play Kang R without a taxi.. But then again, I'm not a good player and have never won a tourney.
I am planning on using this team in the future:

I'd like to read some stories about LE Nathaniel Richards being used on teams. I happen to think that the piece would be an awesome sub for "Iron Lad" on a (pseudo) Young Avengers team...but I haven't had the chance to try him out.

I built a 500 point Soldier theme team around Nathaniel Richards.
Here it is- I called it "Natty Skrull"
LE Nathaniel Richards(SN)=167
E Deathlock(Sin)=60
Crossbones(Av)=47
Skrull General(SN)=43
Skrull Warrior(SN)x2=60
Badoon Commander(SN)x2=74
Blackhawks(Or)=35
Hydra Footsoldier(Sin)=14
This team is my baby. It is a soldier theme team with 10 figs, so +10 to the initiative roll: almost a guarantee for map choice. I choose JSA Museum (indoor). This team gets three probs for the theme bonus, too.
So, for anyone familiar with the pieces knows there are some big possibilities here. The big defensive TA is the Skrull. As if all of the stealth is not a problem for my opponents, my wildcards copying the Skrull TA makes them all a little more slippery. As you can probably imagine, I keep most of the team close by for mastermind possibilities. The Skrull Warriors make decent tie-up pieces, but usually don't last too long.
The offensive, though, still tickles my gut. Copy PD or Hydra and Natty can get up to a 14 AV, 15AV if his target is elevated. And with those Badoon Commanders sitting beside him use Enhance to bring his damage to 6 (using RCE). The trick is maneuvering the right way and taking the shot. Five actions is just about right for some movement to take the shot, taking the shot, and then positioning for cover. I don't like for anyone to get too close to My dude Natty.
Out of the few times I have played this force, Natty has never been past his running shot clix. I push him only once I've pretty well got the game in the bag.
I have to admit, this is not the most fun team to play (or play against, I'm sure). I have only lost one game though (to KC Superman and KC Wonder Woman). It is slow to get positioned right, and limited as far as flexibility.
This is the first team I have posted, so please be nice with the critiques... whadda ya think???
Natty Skrull has just about everything I like in a theme team. I especially like that you were totally able to make it work without feats. I'd be soooo tempted to play at least Fortitude on Nathaniel Richards (at 500 points).
I play a similar (restricted) Hydra team at 300, with a Trick Shot LE Viper getting Hydra bonuses to hit/hide behind while being guarded/Inspired by Baron Strucker.
C Iron Man (Avengers) 154
-Armor Piercing 10
-Protected 8
E Kang 129
-Stunning Blow 10
-Repulsor 10
- Protected 8
R Fixer 52
R Ant-Man 48
E Trapster 48
E Hydra Technician 19
Total: 496
Here is a 500 point Scientist Theme with Kang being one of the main attackers. I prefer the Experience version myself, especially with Stunning Blow. Otherwise all four versions are good and playable.

Yup. They rely on shooting so they need an open map, otherwise they'll bomb. But the plan is to let the one with no feats be a reckless tie up piece (...which is why he died in two out of three games). Objects are placed so that the most feated can push himself to do running shots from object to object then eat them up to stay at full health.
I guess it helps that its a dial I know click for click, so I could work out when it was best to push and when to let him clear.
It was against other theme teams that they won. When I tried them against a min/max force then fell rapidly...
has anyone ever had any luck using the V Kang the conqueror?
IIRC I played that piece in sealed (It may have been the exp, but I don't remember having the TA)...it was a hoot. I didn't win (mostly out-actioned) but it was fun (against a non-minmaxxed team).
