I like danger room beast because he can brilliant tactican a lot of keyword and x-men for a few points. The new beast has more clix of perplex which is nice though.
For my money, V Danger Room Beast is the best, with the capacity for Brilliant Tactician on the cheap.
Toss him in with Xavier in higher point games and you can really mass spam the perplex.
The New V 'Cat' Beast is also okay, but I prefer charge over l/c, so he can lay into someone if he has to.
That, and I want to see Beast leaping over a crushed power generator into battle, not standing back in a lab coat. Yeah ... he' a scientist, but this is a game about duking it out with supervillains, Beast doesn't sit in back drinking coffee. That's Jessica Jones' job.
That ... and the lion mutation bugs me, especially after just seeing how cool looking Dark Beast can look with modern pencils and inks.

Good review, I am addicted to these. Like some before me, I really like the XP Exp and Vet versions. Vet is really the best Beast out there. I am looking forward to an Avengers version.
I have to disagree on the Ult rookie. Sure, if we can play Black Panther or even Mysterio, he's just very bad support. But outwit in a themed deck can be vital, his L/C will help him get into position, and well, when he inevitably gets hurt you've just lost 41 points, not more. I'd rather field him than the more exp Ult versions, because starting Outwit can most of the times work much more wonders than starting perplex (of course, if you play Nightcrawler too it's a whole other story...).
Other than that, nice article.

We want Nefaria's Ani-Men !!
I knew him first as an Avenger, than as a (new)Defender. Then there was X-factor, It was the 80's don't blame me, I at least bought, read, & sold them.
Anyone willing to sacrifice fun for an LE deserves neither. If you stall you better hope your car doesn't!
Because I care what everyone thinks about my reviews..... I've posted this in the initial post too but i'll paste it all here for ease of finding for those who are watching this thread..
The LE's
LE Hank McCoy - Xplosion
The LE Hank McCoy from Xplosion is a relatively cheap piece at 45 points.
Movement wise he's pretty typical. He starts with an 8 movement and works down to a 6 with two clicks of each value through his dial. He also starts with charge for the first two clicks for some increased mobility, and switches to leap climb from clicks 3-6.
His attack starts at a 9 and works down to a 6 at the end and is completely bare bones.
Defensively he starts witha 16 defense and works down to a 13. The first four clicks he's got toughness for a bit of protection.
His damage is bare through the whole dial. He starts at 2 and keeps it for 4 of his 6 clicks. The last two clicks he drops to a 1.
There's a 3 point difference between the rookie Beast and the LE Hank McCoy.. If you were planning on playing the Rookie Beast then definitely choose XP hank instead.. I'd STILL choose the new M&M version over this one..
LE Hank McCoy - Ultimates
Hank from ultimates comes in at 64 points and comes out to be a bit of a better attack piece than the previous ultimate Beasts.
He starts out with a 10 movement (with charge) and works down to a seven movement by the end of his dial. From clicks 2-5 he's got flurry to double his damage potential. His last 6th click he's got one click of leap climb for good positioning of his outwit or to run to safety.
His attack value looks very simular to what we've seen before.. Bare Bones.. He does at least start with a 10 but works down to a 5 by the end.
His defense is also a bit different than we've seen. He starts with a 16 defense and works down to a 13. The part that is different is his powers. He's got upfront willpower to help move him around and make use of his charge, perplex, and best AV on his dial. After his first click he picks up Super Senses which stays for the remainder of his dial. It's nice if you are lucky enough to roll super senses more often than I, as you might be able to avoid damage completely, something toughness doesn't help do.
Damage wise he sees the typical 2's and 1's. He does start with 2 clicks of perplex which he can use to bring up his damage to a 3. This does also occur on click 2 where he's got flurry for a potential 6 damage. He also finishes out his dial with 2 clicks of outwit.
While Hank doesn't have a T/A of his own he should do well on a team to both support and play secondary attacker. I'm uncertain how well it'd work, but maybe if point cost allowed he might do well with the Mercenary feat attached to him and toss him on a defenders team.

Thanks for the amazing review of my favorite character!!! V XP Beast was an unexpected pain for many people back in the day, and the newest versions have really done him justice. One thought about the cat-Beast: POUNCE works wonderfully on him!!!
Don't sell Cat Beast short. I did when I first saw him reviewed, then I played him at the pre release (2 actually) on an XMen theme team and went undefeated. His dial is soooooooo pushable it's almost a crime and with the Xmen TA you can control what you have. Need perplex, got it, need outwit, yep you can get there too.
Still can't stand the scuplt, but I'm going to get ahold of another starter Beast and take care of that little problem. Now if I could only get one with the Avengers TA/Keyword and I'm good to go.
