could you put up a barrier in the square a token has bee placed in and then not be adjacent, so you don't have to break away, or take damage for doing something.
You can't, the square the doppelganger is placed in is considered to be occupied (check the link to WK website in my previous post).

Not IN the square, but you can do this:
Db
bA
A is FigA, D is Doppelganger, b is barrier. This will separate them so there is no damage taken this turn. You could also replace the b's with a double-based figure if FigA is too important that turn.... the double based fig won't get hurt that turn if they didn't start adjacent to another Doppelganger
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
Actually, I'll have to disagree with you, NV (first time, I think).
Disagree away. I never claimed to be perfect... often times I am far from it, in fact

(enphasis is mine). Yes, it's similar to poison, but it requires that the recipient take a non-free action during the turn and that it happens at the end of said action, not at the begining of the turn.... plus the bolded "or tokens" says that it's 1 damage no matter how many they're adjacent to.
... like right now Yeah, I missed that part of the description somehow. Not sure how, really, since it was right there in front of me. Chalk it up to the fact that its a DC character
If you fail a breakway roll, I am assuming you would take the click, unless you have a team ability (Avengers, JLA, etc.) that allows you to move for free (not counting towards your actions that turn), but that one could be open for debate.
Under Justice League on the PAC it says: When you give a Justice League team member a move action, it does not count toward your available actions for the turn.
It does not call it a free action. Any 'free move' type team ability is not a free action. It simply does not count towards your available actions for the turn.
