"They have hit Strange," Rasputin said. "Let us show them the price for attacking us."

"For once, I agree with you, Rasputin," Katma Tui said.

"The Scarlet Witch's probability altering powers make her quite dangerous," the Mandarin said. "I can distract her for a moment, but probably not long. We shall have to take full advantage of that moment." He used one of his rings to create a dazzling white light, momentarily blinding Wanda.

"It seems unfair," Katma Tui said.

"I agree," Dr. Strange said. "But the Mandarin is correct. Much as I hate to see a friend harmed, the Scarlet Witch must be neutralized."

"If you say so," the Green Lantern shrugged. She created a giant alien serpent that wrapped itself around the Avenger, constricting the air from her lungs.

"Now I shall deal with the stinking beast," Rasputin said, casting his mind out toward Gorilla Grodd.

"You think me a mere brute," Grodd said, "But my force of mind powers make me the equal of any psychic assault you may attempt."

"Shall we put it to a test of wills then?" Rasputin said. To the casual observer, the wizard and the ape did nothing, merely standing and staring at each other. Rasputin began to sweat with the effort. Blood began to tricke from Grodd's nostril. At last, Grodd broke the staredown, turning away and clutching at his temples. "I repeat, stinking beast," Rasputin said haughtily.

Ugh, what an awful beginning. Before Wanda takes such a big hit though Superwoman's ta kicks in. Rolls for the attack on the Witch, gets a 4. Wanda's safe. A slight bright spot in an otherwise disappointing start. Still, her pc is useless now and someone gets a token. I'll give it to Superwoman herself.

Sadly this leaves me with little to do without pushing and much as I hate to do it, I really need to. Invincible grabs Gorilla Grodd (who's at J16) and will hss to I15 to attack Strange. Needs 5, rolls 7. Stephen takes 3. Poor Gorilla Grodd probably won't be doing all that much in this game at all except being a noble sacrifice.

Before he can respond Invincible hits Dr. Strange with a second punch. "Hello there! I'm back to finish what I started. Did you miss me?".

"Snappy banter, how original" muses Dr. Strange as he recovers from the blow easily, "Still you will find the Sorcerer Supreme no easy target." Strange creates a shield that causes Invincible pain when he attempts a second hit.

"Yeow! I see...sorcerer supreme? Why didn't anybody tell me!".

"It's far better, I think," Strange says, "To show you, don't you agree?."

"Farewell, Gorilla Grodd," the Mandarin said, charging the apes body with electricity from his ring.

"I am not done here," Grodd said stubbornly.

"Oh yes you are," Rasputin said. A black ray of mystic power leapt from his hand, and Gorilla Grodd was down.

So GorillaGrodd did little for me, sadly. I love the character, even the click is still cool-ish.

So, as long as I keep points between 750-850 I'm golden.

Enter Red Tornado at J2. He'll tk the Purple Man, with mental shields, to N9. Invisible Girl enters at Q2 where Hal tks her to O4, she moves to O6. Sue of course shares her dv with all of her neighbors.

Purple Man tries to m/c Rasputin. First roll is a 3, not so great a start. Wanda rerolls a 10. He got him. Rasputin perplexes his own damage to 3 and he attacks Mandy. Needs 8, rolls 5. Superwoman takes the reroll token: 8. Mandarin takes 3. Now I'm out of pc.

Maximus tks Wolverine to J6.

He charges to J16 to slice up Mandarin some more. Needs 6, gets a 5. Wow, without all my pc my rolls would totally bite this game.

As Gorilla Grodd falters his replacements wait in the wings and move in.

First comes the villain known as the Purple Man. "What a dubious bunch of posers out there in long robes and Euroasiantrash grandeur. I'll love playing with you boys." He smiles and suddenly Rasputin is attacking the Mandarin.

"Ruffian Russian! I'll have your head for such insolence!" Mandarin says as he recovers from the trouncing.

"You wouldn't be the first or last. THAT trick never works!" Rasputin answers. The Purple Man only laughs in the background.

"Interesting. I see another one of me fighting alongside our foes. This could be very..." Red Tornado starts.

"...Confusing," smiles the Invisible Girl as she moves in closer.

"Wanda! Wolverine!" she smiles, "It's good to see some familiar faces."

"Good to see you too, sweetheart. That force field will come in handy, though not fer me," Logan says.

"Why not?" Sue asks.

Logan grins to Maximus, "OK forehead-guy, fastball special!".

Maximus sends Wolverine out in the Mandarin's lap with a 'weeeeee'.

Wolverine doesn't hesitate to ram his claws into the Mandarin. To no avail.

"Sorry X-Man, my mento-intensifier ring prevents such an attack. You simply thought I was there. The better to draw you in and attack you myself."

"Great. I fall into a mind-trap, don't tell Charlie, he'll have m head fer this."

"Not," threatens the Mandarin, "If I get it first."

"I hate mind controllers," Katma Tui said, zapping the Purple Man. She missed though.

"That's because I wanted you to miss," the Purple Man explained, a combination of pride in his abilities and a delight in taunting his enemies. "I made you shoot a little to the right." Katma Tui frowned at him.

"Are you ready to join our allies?" Red Tornado asked Hawk.

"Just a sec," Hawk said. He strode over and picked up a large piece of machinery, hefted it to check it's weight and nodded to himself. Returning to the Red Tornado he said, "NOW I'm ready."

Wow, I've little I can do here having used so many last time.

Invincible tries his hand on taking down Dr. Strange. Doc's not really the best target here but I can't risk the chance he can't break away. Needs 3, rolls 7. Dr. Strange is out. Now we've both lost one.

Purple Man will push to mc Rasputin. Needs 8, rolls 9. We've got a winner. Rasputin ups his damage to 3 and attacks Mandy. Needs 7, gets 6. Superwoman rerolls a 10 ( 2 5s). Hal gets that token. Mandarin takes 3 and kb to G17. Purple guy gets 1 for pushing and 1 for possessing an mcer.

Purple Man laughs aloud, "Let's see if I can make the mad monk a little madder!". With a little effort he takes over the mind of the Russian.

"Move away oriental, you bother me!" Rasputin says as he uses his magic to blast away an unsuspecting Mandarin.

"Mandarin, careful!" Dr. Strange yells, "Rasputin's mind is not his own!".

Just as Dr. Strange begins a spell Invincible swoops in, "Guys I think we've got an opening here, let's not blow it!".

Snikt. "Ya don't say. A guy with claws likes openings, Rasputin, know what I'm saying."

Meanwhile the Invisible Girl and Scarlet Witch move in closer to survey the situation.

"Wow," says Wanda, "Impressive, isn't it?."

"Mandarin's senseless, Rasputin's wounded and Dr. Strange is completely down. I'd say this volley goes to us," Susan Richards responds.

Guess I'll replace Strange with Swamp Thing, with And Stay Down. Puts me at 800 even now.

"What are you??" Invincible asked, as the Red Tornado plopped the Swamp Thing down next to him.

"I am called the Swamp Thing," he repled.

"Good name," Invincible agreed, then Swamp Thing hit him. "Whoa, and strong too."

"Take this, runt," Katma Tui said, shooting at Wolverine. The landing struts of the Blackbird they were standing on chose that moment to shift a little. Wolverine was off balance just long enough to make the Green Lantern's attack go over his head. "What? How did that happen?"

"That's the Scarlet Witch for you sweetheart," Wolverine said.

Across the bay, the Scarlet Witch smiled demurely at the compliment. Until the Hulk landed next to her. Then no one was smiling.
