Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds #1 - rated 6
"Oh, that loser is barely worth mentioning."
With the track record of Geoff Johns recent work and the excellence of all the Final Crisis tie-ins thus far, I had pretty high hopes for this one. I hadn't read the recent Superman/Legion stories, so this was my first introduction to this version, and it was a little frustrating seeing the same characters once again rebooted and going through the same kind of nonsense I'd seen them go through several times before. Like Brave & the Bold above, the story moved at wild speeds, cramming a ton of characters, plot points, and perspectives all into this one issue. Even worse, the first half is devoted to Superboy-Prime, who is probably the most annoying character to appear in comics since the post-rape Dr. Light. I can only hope what happened to Light happens to him, and soon. If you have more patience for Superboy-Prime or the constantly rebooting Legion than I do, then maybe this comic won't seem so bad to you. For what its worth, I did rate it as high as a 6 for the elements I did like: The Holo-Jimmy tour of the Superman Museum, the ever-slick art of George Perez, the cool new take on the origin of the Legion of Super-Villains, and the inclusion of so many cool Legion-related characters, like Jacques Foccart, Time Trapper, R.J. Brande, Leland Macauley, and Polar Boy. I'll probably be skipping issues 2, 3, and 4, and only coming back for the last issue so I can find out how it all ends.
That's the original Legion, not a rebooted version (as explained in the Superman/Legion arc in Action Comics recently ).
Blue Beetle #25 (AKA The best Blue Beetle issue evah!)
Milagro: "I know you. My brother calls you the crazy one."
Guy Gardner: "That's right, baby girl. I'm the crazy one."
The threat is impressive. The plan is interesting. The means is inspired.
I like i-words apparently, but aside from that, this was a good read and looked really nice.
Honestly, it really was. I loved the Superman museum even acknowledging the other Supermen (with Kal-L being more prominent than the others), but I'm a mark for the multiverse anyway.
I noticed they didn't mention anywhere that Superboy-Prime killed Kal-L....

Original as of when? I mean, where is the cut-off from? Geoff Johns' version (the original) are ignoring which reboots, exactly? What would have been their last appearance prior to the Action Comics reintroduction which I obviously didn't read?
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

I believe it's before the first Crisis. Superman states he 'never saw them again' after the first Crisis in either Justice League, JSA or Action (sorry i can't be more specific), but also states in FCLoTW that he met 'two other Legions'.
Sol is right. The "Action Legion" is the Pre-Crisis Legion up until around the time of the first Crisis, then they seem to have a different timeline (no 5 Year later, no Mordruverse, no Valor, etc. etc.). The only significant difference seems to be some ambiguity as to whether Clark was called "Superboy" or not (thanks to the ongoing legal battle for the character), and a big fat question mark as to Supergirl's role. Think of it as a "DeBoot".
Turned into a wax candle and lit up by the Spectre in Final Crisis: Revelations #1. That's it. He's done.
Good. I've hated that S.O.B. ever since Identity Crisis. (Truth be known, I wasn't all that wild about Identity Crisis anyway; both of those Silver Age gals deserved better than what Melzer did with 'em)
The Spectre needs to find a new schtick -- he did that candle trick back in the 70's Wrath of the Spectre series. (Both the scissors thing and the airplane thing were better anyway -- I can't decide which I like more)

I would say the Johns Legion - with a few "glitches" (interestingly, ones that entailed previously dead characters now back-to-life but dying again) - is actually done as if the Legion went up to Magic Wars and then the series continued without v4.
The outfits are very much in a similar pattern - frankly, not to my taste - and you'll notice that Pol is still deceased; on the other hand, no sign of Tellus, Quislet, etc. (who would have also been there before the Great Crisis though.)
Oh and look at the main villain - He Returns! Darn right it's interesting to have him back in the house.

As in THE original Legion of Superheroes series from the 1960's. It was called Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes for quite awhile and then they dropped Superboy from the title. It was after Crisis On Infinite Earths in the late 80's that they've gone thru so many reboots. Now, the originals are grown up like Superman. So, any Legion that came out after COIE is a reboot. Goeff Johns brought back the originals, with a few tweaks here and there, mostly dealing with the legal use of the word Superboy. And I gotta say, I read a lot of these stories with Mon-El and everyone and once I saw Johns brought them back in Action Comics and The Lightning Saga in Justice Society of America and Justice League of America, I've been hooked ever since and couldn't wait to pick up Legion of Three Worlds!

Are we sure Pol's dead? I can't remember that being stated, just that he, Quislet and Tellus are absent from that group of inductees (Hopefully not for long, I definitely want to see a Quislet/Gates team-up).
I stick to the breaking point being somewhere around LSH v.3 #13-18 (i.e. Crisis time), as the stuff that came after doesn't seem to be cannon (especially the "Conspiracy" stuff). At least we can safely jettison all the 5YL drek.

A lot of them are still MIA. After the end of the Action Comics' arc the others went to look for them.

I think they are setting Superboy Prime up to be redeemed in this book....I do know I can't wait til Bart Allen returns...I think in the next issue or issue 3
You know, now that I think about it......there is NO Superman in the future. He COULD fill the void he always wanted....of being THE Superman somewhere!! (Maybe even become Mon-El/Valor in rebooted history ? )
It would be interesting if he does somehow see the light....I just can't see how he COULD be redeemed.
I'm going to hit him really, really hard with a big green boxing glove............ I'm kidding. - Hal Jordan
(As for 5YL, well, guess that's another thread but I admit there were parts I really really liked and parts I despised - there is a reason though my user ID is Rokk Krinn and not Cosmic Boy. )
