i was scamed once but i didn't file i just figured it a waste of time has anyone ever got justice out of filing mail fraud and calling there local police cause i will do it right away if i know something can happen?
I was ripped off by VespertheBadger way back in March. I didn't do anything about it just because I figured what the heck.
Would it be too late to report him now?? I lost a lot of good stuff in that trade. >: (

Yeah, I don't want to call a bunch of people just to for them to tell me "there's nothing we can do" and be wasting my time.
if you been ripped by an auction here is what you can do

It lets the seller know that you're serious, and it will allow you to potentially recover your lost monies.
If this has happened to you recently, well, I hope you've still got enough time. First of all, it needs to be within 45 days of when you had originally made the payment in order to be able to open a dispute. Remember that bit when buying something. Otherwise, you're hosed. Log into your Paypal account and find the payment you'd made in your "History". Then click on "Details". Scroll down to the link to the "Resolution Center". Then click on "Item Dispute". Then, you can describe exactly what happened, what is owed to you, etc. I'd avoid using any inflammatory language here, were I you.
After you've submitted the dispute, you've got two weeks to either resolve the issue with the seller (hey, it could happen!) or escalate the dispute to a claim. It's probably best to wait at least a week before escalating it to a claim so that Paypal can see that you're at least trying to communicate. I've had to do this twice before, and both times I've eventually been given a refund. I've now just opened a third dispute, but it's the first time it's been with a fellow 'Realmser. Such a shame.
Remember, folks: you just have to make sure you remember the deadlines. I'm sorry it's had to come to this, and I hope I've helped some of you!
you can add CrazyforBatgirl to the list of rippers
When I first started trading, I sent away to a couple of folks and didn't receive my end of the bargain. Since I had the address, I simply called Information and asked for the phone number that matched. One time that didn't work, so I simply called a local library and asked the lady look up a phone number from the local phone book. There is also whitepages.com (I think that's it...) for a bit of help.
Its a whole different story when you're actually talking to someone (or someones father!) on the phone...
I realize that there are a lot of people out there that are honest when it comes to trading and selling on here but those clowns that rip people off need to face the consequences. Use this info and keep it bumped
Probably what will happen is the same thing that happened to Popinjay when many of us called the local police, who then promptly told us there was nothing they could do. Good luck though.
If I make you a trade offer, even if you think it's ridiculous, please at least respond with a kind and simple "Thanks but no thanks."
It's not an option, it's a waste of time. Nothing can be done to rippers. Everyone has tried and you never hear about the post office arresting someone for mail fraud or the police even taking the time to talk to the ripper. I was ripped once on here and learned that when I contacted anyone and everyone.

Your experience may have been negative, but the one (and only) time things advanced to the point where I had to file mail fraud charges and contact the local police, not only did they go out and talk to the individual, the detective I spoke with provided me with his own number/extension so I did not have to get bounced around a switch board every time I called for an update.
Eventually the trade was resolved to my statisfaction and I fully credit the police involvement for that successful resolution.
In other words, like most everything in life, your experience might vary. Doesn't mean the attempt shouldn't be made, though. After all, by that point what do you have to lose?
