Good God I hate Super Senses. I've got a friend in my home game that virtually never misses his SS rolls. I think he's at least 80%. Super Senses is better than invulnerability for that guy. Give him SS and a high defense and he's a mother-lovin' juggernaut. Me? I never hit my SS rolls. I'd rather have smoke cloud than SS. But I digress…

1) Prometheus teleports Luthor the hell out of there.
2) Polaris on Aquaman. AV 8 on DV 14, rolls 11, hits for 1 damage after toughness.
3) Manta on Aquaman. AV 5 on a doesn't matter, need a 12. Rolls 9, which hits, surprisingly, but does no damage through toughness. Push click to Manta.
And honestly, (as this is about to be over and the conclusion really isn't in any doubt), this was an extremely frustrating match to villain. The IL really had no business being here up against such a force, especially a force that works so cohesively. My key pieces (Prometheus, Polaris and Icicle) all did about as well as could feasibly be expected. Prometheus is hindered by lack of move and attack, Polaris has 'Too much to do with not enough actions to do it with', and Icicle can only do SO much. After 2 hits, everyone but those 3 were extremely expensive tie up figures.
Honestly, the thing that was most frustrating, is that I was crazy lucky this game with my rolls, and I still had no hope of winning. Maybe if I had thrown ALL of my resources into it, I could've KO'd Superman, or someone, but there really was no point.
And yeah, I'm not trying to be harsh, I've faced my fair share of lopsided villain/hero matches, (I've WON as a villain twice now, which I'm kinda proud of), but I really don't feel like there was any challenge here for you. The only reason you didn't get to snag Luthor was bad luck.

It's really hard to build balanced matches that are story appropriate and present enough of a challenge. I struggle with it all the time because I don't want there to be one-sided fights, but there have to be story reasons for using certain villains. The League doesn't have a lot of villains in their caliber range, and several of those weren't available for story reasons. I could have thrown in a high-cost piece that might have helped, but he'd have been outnumbered and if he fell that'd be most of your force. It's tough.
Thus the secondary objective being the primary objective. Even if I win, the League lost because saving Luthor was the number one goal of the match. Since the teams weren't as even as I'd like, the balance was shifted so you didn't have to beat me to beat me.

Thanks for the game, King. And sorry you felt so frustrated by the matchup. As somebody who's been on that side of the table a lot of times, I definitely empathize with the feeling.
The up side of having a game with multiple objectives is that there's more than one way to win. The downside in this game was that you couldn't very well focus on one and still have a chance at the other. You did the best you could, and managed to snatch Luthor, take down Superman and KO Green Arrow with a team you didn't think stood a chance. That's gotta count for something.
