To be fairly honest, I think powercreep is in the eyes of the beholder. Are figures more powerful and more playable... YES. Game mechanics are changing the power levels of the figures (indominatable and sharpshooter) older figures dont stand a chance *usually*. But in all honesty i like more powerful figs. You cant blame a company for trying to make money. After all, nobody buys their product they dont produce future sets. Shame on you guys for thinking they should cater to each of your ideals. I think they should do what they can and if we are happy in the process YAY for us
Question 1> Do you like Powercreep?
Indifferent. We don't really get Infinity Challenge-style dials anymore, but with every new set there are characters who seem to hit a new high for power... and others that look like something from Critical Mass. I'm not convinced that power creep really exists; some dials are simply designed a lot more effectively now, which is what you would expect after 5+ years of experience.
Question 2> How does powercreep affect the amount you spend on new sets?
It's not a factor. I try to get the majority of each set regardless.
Discussion> Put your comments and stuff here.
"Power creep" is one of those arguments that will go around and around in circles because ultimately, nobody has ever been able to quantify it. It's all subjective, opinion, and generally influenced by the current metagame.

What he said, and in much better terms than I could have.

1) it's a neccasery evil without it we would get thesame dials like we did in IC (4 AV anyone ? after 1 hit..), I like my figs being somewhat usefull throughout their WHOLE dial !
2) thesame I guess.
I'm in it for the characters, So if they bring my favourite characters out with better dials/new figs that haven't been made yet I will buy more.
If there are only a couple figs I need, I will E-bay for them (mostly has to do with a having too few players, so no heavy trading going on)
I don't have a problem with powercreep as long as:
they don't make figs whom are almost impossible to play against like :Ms.Marvelskrull.
they use thesame system for ALL new figs: Wonderwoman is severly overcosted for what she can do...(she is definately not worth 250 points !!)
AAT with all the subsequent rule addittions would make almost ALL figs playable again, instead of the rules we have now that only gives HSS/RS and to a lesser degree TK+charge a real fighting chance..

I'll steal most of Zero's answer.
YES WE DID SAVE HEROCLIX !
Now thank us by taking care of the people that take care of you.
Why would you start a thread about something that you claim has no effect on you, yet you are full of negative comments about? Are you trying to tell us theat we're being slapped in the face? If it doesn't affect you, why don't you leave it alone? Unless you're just trying to start fights. ut you woldn't do that.

Discussion: I view it is a bit of a slap in the face to customers if Wizkids intentionally uses powercreep as a marketing ploy. It devalues the stuff they sold us previously, and that's not cool. Plus it's a game balance nightmare if the point costing formula is intentionally broken for new figures.

He has nothing else to do. No one wants to play Brazilclix with him, so the next best thing is to start another complaining style thread.
1 - I like it. I quickly got tired of my figures taking 1 hit and becoming useless unless I rolled 10 or better.
2 - My buying habits have changed, but only because of econoimic reasons. I buy all starters, a case of DC and perhaps a few booosters of Marvel. I trade for the rest.
> loosing more and more interest with each new set coming out and thus buying less and less
> IMO, with the introduction of Special powers, we left "Power Creep" behind and switched to "Power Surge". Just the possibility to have more than one standard power in the same slot is huge, especially since it's likely that those powers come at a discount, since they can be shut off with a single Outwit. Very powerful new combos are for example HSS+Stealth or Charge+Flurry. Personally, I hate it when the rift between older figures and newer figures gets wider and wider. I paid good money for hundreds and hundreds of figures and with each day they become less and less playable. If WK had "only" introduced split squares it would have been a major leap forward in regards to power level, but the textual SPs go even beyond that.
And this is no new revelation either. It's been known for a long time that having two powers available at the same time is vastly superior to having them one after the other. Actually this was clear since Hypertime, when Batman had Leap/Climb and Stealth at the same time.
Sure many characters have been remade as shiny new versions, but a) many come at a hefty price tag and without the REV progression it's often hard to get a whole comic team together in smaller point formats and b) a great deal of figures have not been remade and exist only in their old (outdated? obsolete? useless?) versions.
The inconsistencies in dial design are the single most disturbing thing in HC for me. Everything else can be gotten around with house rules, etc. But what's on the dial (and card ) is on the dial (and card).

That's a bit like saying you hate the steroid era in baseball, but you only collect baseball cards. Oh, and then blogging about it.
Powercreep is not so much about an 80 point Elecktra being so much better than a 36 point version. It's about a 49 point Captain America (SI) being better than a 49 point Guardian (CD) only a couple years apart. I wouldn't mind it at all if WizKids got rid of Retirement and just let older pieces become obsolete on their own in the face of more powerful pieces and new game mechanics. For players who build teams based on the dials, the figures that could hold their own still would and all the others (90%) would never be played. For those of us who build theme teams (both keyword and otherwise) it would give us so much more scope and flexibility.
I don't like it when power creep gets out of hand. However, I do understand why the design team needs to create a sort of power creep. It was quite obvious in the days of Jeff Grubb or Jon L. - make figures have better stats and cheaper costs (usually ending up with less overall power or less consistency).
Seth seems to go for more consistency or more efficient special powers (where he can assign costs based on an arbitrary decision if he feels inclined to limit or expand upon power combinations within the special power) which has progressed quite a bit since his days of Collateral damage (9/16) to now (10/18).
Anyway, it's kind of necessary for power creep to exist, despite the limitations it brings to the longevity of the game. While collectors have no interest, Wizkids makes it income by selling sets for playability purposes (hence an intense emphasis on prizes and tournament play). When it comes right down to it, it can be insulting to players who have bought previously and realize the devalue of older figures. In most cases, unfortunately (and this is how politics works as well), consumers have a mind like squirrels.
You didn't state whether powercreep affects the volume of YOUR purchases.
We do speculate that powercreep increases sales, part of the reason I started this thread is I was curious what percentage of people buy more Heroclix because of powercreep.
