There was a brief shining moment when the judges had this freedom. That time has long since past.
There are NO house rules allowed. None at all. Zip. Zilch. Bubkus. Nada.
Sadly it still happens. I might be leaving clix completly to focus on WoW Minis and I will let the judges who are not doing the right thing HAVE IT when I leave.
There are even some judges that "throw their prize in" so that they can play, and then you wonder how they can be impartial. I have seen this too often, was one of the biggest reasons I became a judge to run things right, only to find out it is all clicky, no pun intended. Even if you do things right other judges will tell their players you do not know the rules and tell them that they are getting cheated.
Yes, I know some judges still do and there are many threads dedicated to it. I had even mentioned that I knew this in my first post.
So tell you what, I'll give you the why and we can create real ways to try and solve this problem If the multitude can agree weather or not it is a problem.

If everyone complains that they see Ms. Skrullville all the time there is an understanding that no one will play it. This can be a omission of a fig or map or BFs. This becomes the sudo house rule. Even judges can get swept into this but the key difference is that they feel they have the power to "make it official" though they technically can not.
These rules become so standard that if a new person comes in that the regulars forget the real rules.
If a person shows up to play with the criteria for the correctly posted team and wants to play, then play the right way.
OR
Let them play the team as is i the scenario
OR
Help them build a team that fits what you want to play.
If you have a venue that likes to play different than create a backup team to fight with if someone does come.
Also I believe fellowship should be voted on. If you play a prize junkie and you don't like it, don't vote for them. If you would like to play the new people coming in more vote for them. If you are worried that the core group will vote for each other then find a new place that accepts you and you feel comfortable in.
wow im glad that the judges at my venue are awesome. they are always on point and will help any person who is looking for it. im sorry that every body has to deal with that ####.
