If I recall correctly, the description of Barrier in that PAC didn't mention LOF so it was possible to place Barrier tokens anywhere within range, even in a room on the other side of a wall.
Joking aside, I am curious as to what he means, too.
That could work. A little convoluted (and good for only 1 round of a tournament, so hardly something to build a strategy around), but it could definitely work.
The PAC Say each marker has to be adjacent to another marker. People believe that this means all four have to be together. It doesn't say "each marker must be adjacent to at least two other markers or be adjacent to a marker that is adjacent to at least one different marker".
So if marker A and B are adjacent and C and D are adjacent somewhere else, each marker is adjacent to another marker. So as long as all 4 are within range and you have line of fire to ONE marker, you're all set. I place A and be somewhere (in range line of fire to A) and throw C and D on the other side of a wall. It meats everything the latest PAC says. Works with Smoke cloud too. Nightshade + Knockout Gas+ lab or prison map.

I read this...re-read this...looked up Smoke Cloud and Barrier....read this again....hmmmmmm....

Wow... that is completely incorrect. While I can sort of see how you might interpret the power that way (and stress on the "sort of"... that is really reaching), that is not the way the power works.
You place your first token (presumably the one you will be drawing LOF to) and then place the next, adjacent to the first. Then the next, which must be adjacent to one of the first two. Then the last, which must be adjacent to any of the previous ones.
You can not start placing tokens in one area of the map and then others in a completely different area because those later tokens would not be adjacent to the ones you first laid down on the map.
Please don't misunderstand, I agree with you, but I am playing 'devil's advocate' here.

But where does it say you have to place them all adjacent to each other?
BARRIER Give this character a power action; put up to four blocking terrain markers on the battlefield in any square of clear terrain that is not occupied by a character and is within this character’s range. Each blocking terrain marker must be put adjacent to another blocking terrain marker created by this character. If this character has a range of 0, it can put the markers only in adjacent squares. This character must have a clear line of fire to at least one of the blocking terrain markers. These blocking markers remain in place until the beginning of your next turn or
until this power is countered or lost.

Again...where does it say this? This is speaking from a purely "rules lawyer" point of view mind you.

Because you have to place the tokens adjacent to other tokens. Sure, you can choose whatever order you place them in (so you don't necessarily have to draw LOF to the first one you place, as long as you can draw LOF to one of them).
So you place one. Now the next must be adjacent to that first one. Then the third must be adjacent to the first or second (maybe both). Then the fourth must be adjacent to any of the previous three. And your character must be able to draw LOF to at least one of those four once they are all laid out (and be within the character's range).
It is impossible to start a second "group" of Barrier tokens since the simple act of trying to place token #3 would not be adjacent to either 1 or 2.

I agree, but by saying that you have to place all tokens adjacent to other tokens, you could not place your first token...
Well, I AM pretty awesome.
An understanding of the law of large numbers leads to a realization that what appear to be fantastic improbabilities are not remarkable at all but, merely to be expected.
But that there is the kicker isn't it? You have to start somewhere yet, according to the wording of the power (as interpetted by you and just about everyone [including me]) you can't.
