I said it before and I'll say it again. I like the figures - the sculpts and paint look pretty good. We're not at Fantastic Forces level again yet, but we're a darn sight better than Secret Invasion. That's progress. I love that there were no feats, BFC's or Bystanders in the boosters. Now if they went away entirely we'd really have something! But seriously, in the Special Powers era, feats are an unnecessary add-on. They're like putting ketchup on your ketchup.
Collation seems to be the single greatest issue. A case should net you a full CUR set every time with no exceptions. A case should net you six different SRs every time with no exceptions. Cases like mine should never happen. "God Packs" are a bad idea. Chase figures must go - mind you I've pulled several over the years, and I still don't like the concept. SWMs doesn't need them to sell boosters, HeroClix doesn't either. The only other thing would be to get rid of the AE-style bases they used for this set and go back to the normal bases.
I'm glad clix is back and all, but without some changes to how boosters and cases are packed, I'll save the case buying for Star Wars minis and just buy clix as sets or sinlges off of eBay or from the good folks in our own Sale Forum.
All my knowledge of the set so far is vicarious, as I won't have my Clix until next week. What I've seen of the set online looks very good, and I was already excited about the set based on the character list. The emphasis not only on generics, but on the thematic Minions mechanics for them, is long overdue and very much welcome. Similarly, team builds that actually work within the point structure of the game (a 300 pt even Warrriors Three, for instance) demonstrates thoughtful attention.
My complaints all seem to be matters of logistics and/or mistakes.
I have to question why they seriously needed to hire Chandra and several others from the old regime if a problem that the earlier Wikids had solved years ago -- getting away from "waves" of shipping -- suddenly resurfaced.
While I will never be happy about chase pieces (at the current rarity level a complete set of the SRs is already enough of a "chase") I do appreciate that they seem to have brought them down to the frequency of 1 per 40 boosters. Brighter still, the reports on this set indicate that they were giving good attention to trying to make the bricks fairly balanced when it came to the CUR elements.
IMHO the situation with rarity/value concentration in SRs and chase pieces was already a problem, and this has been exacerbated by the God Pack move, which concentrates an absurd degree of value at the expense of even more other boosters. I hope it will turn out to have been a system error they'll correct for future sets.
Besides what fans have to tell them about it I hope they get an earful from retailers who are dealing with the way this makes the purchase not only of loose boosters more of a crapshoot than before, but does much the same with bricks. I would consider it a foolish move to go into a store and buy a loose brick, knowing that it's apparently part of this set's packaging formula that there's a good chance it will contain only two SRs.
Much like the idea that if Bill Gates walks into the bar no one else in the bar sees his net worth suddenly soar, having one person get almost all the valuable marbles out of a single booster doesn't raise the happiness factor for the bulk of the buyers. Some things don't average out.
So, again, the set itself (from what I can see at this distance) looks like a solid winner. The collation and delivery of the set are largely another matter. Of course, I'm hoping my case falls into that of the happier 50% of buyers.
I love that there were no feats, BFC's or Bystanders in the boosters.
I disagree. I miss the feats and BFC (and even bystanders) in boosters.

Completely and whole-heartedly agree with everything said here.

Neither does Monsterpocalypse.

I don't mind the bases too much (what's up with MK bases?) but no figure should ever be on a single leg or cloud wisp on one of these bases.

Change "Star Wars" to "Monsterpocalypse" and I again agree completely and whole-heartedly with this statement.

There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
Got my full set coming from ebay! can't wait... sorry to be an idiot though... what is a godpack?
Due either by design or allocation flaw, 1 pack in a case may contain 4 SR's and a Chase figure, but at the expense of the rest of the case being almost void of SR's
I also never fully quit, though before yesterday I hadn't played in a few months. Moving cross-country is tricky business, but with our stuff on the way, my roomie and I broke out the ol' 'Clix to get us ready for the inevitable arrival of our cases on (hopefully) Monday. Ordered them from my good ol' B&M FLGS back in Ohio, a little extra cash for shipping and waiting a few days is worth keeping the money flowing to a great store.
As for NECA, love the decision to sell off the Chariot stock to give a defibrolative burst to the game, love the decision to include the new BibtB Surtur in the cases shipped to retailers rather than deal with mail-away redemption, love the prompt delivery of a very well-stocked organized play kit (though I understand there were difficulties in some venues), and love the general support they've shown for the game, giving exclusive previews to gaming sites (including us here at the Realms!) and whatnot.
Don't know about sculpt/paint quality yet, as I haven't physically beheld any of the HoT figs yet. Don't like going back to the oldschool AE bases, much prefer the ring-style insets, but if manufacturing costs require AE bases because they're cheaper, I'd prefer that to nothing, certainly. Count my vote for ring-turn bases, though, if possible.
Hate God-Packs. If it's a goof, then fix it. If it's a deliberate strategy, then stop it. The possibility of landing such a bounteous payoff will only increase cherry picking (a loathsome endeavor) and inadvertently reduce the value of loose boosters for the retailer. Think about it; if a group of friends buy a couple of boosters, two or three, from one brick, and one cracks a God-Pack, then those boosters will be unmovable by the retailer. Those witnesses know there's no more SRs in that brick, no Chases or limited SRs in the whole case, so the retailer has any number of very limited appeal boosters, especially if the God-Pack puller and witnesses tell other friends who weren't there. Chases is enough to keep people buying boosters. You don't have to mess up the collation of an entire case by throwing 4 SRs in with it.
Love ya', NECA, keep up the good work! No more God-Packs!
Regardless of how many games I got to play over the past 9 months or so I never left the game. Played (a few) games, added to my collection at dirt cheap prices, made a few mods, placed my order for HoT many many months ago, etc....
I'm more than happy to see the game back in production.
I'm all kinds of thrilled about the hands-off aproach to Orginized Play & how the BiBTB was done.
Allocation & coalation though.... (how do I make that frowning smiley shaking its head?) Coupled with the difficulty of getting the prize pack....
Sculpts & paint jobs; Granted, HoT isn't SI bad. But, I'm sorry, the quality still leaves alot to be desired. I blame old WK for this though, not Neca.
The bases... Here's hoping these improve in future sets. Oh well, now I have a use for all the extra common figs that have built up over the years. Maybe while the turkeys cooking on Thur I'll get a chance to go through & swap out dial bottoms for things that'll actually turn.
I am glad to see that the plastic quality improved abit.
The launch seemed sloppy; no website to check for local retailers participating in OP, not enough launch kits, not enough product, no starter in a year and a half... I did like how they did the brick figs though.
I know everyone is excited heroclix is back, and I am too. I think it's also OK to have constructive criticism of a company that we dish out a substantial amount of money to. I think we can calmly express our feelings about it all and still have fun playing a great game.
1) Love the sculpts, though I think DC usually has the better scuplts, this turned out to be a good set
2) Actually, not many figures I personally want to play or collect. Hammer of Thor is a bit too narrow in subject matter.
3) No buy it by the brick coupon in the brick1
4) I HATE the bases. Turning the figure to turn the dial is just going to result in broken figures due to over-stressing the seating.
5) No website. WTF?
6) No BFCs or Feat cards THANK YOU! There is enough paper with this game, we don't need any more stinking cards. I hope they are eliminated once and for all except in very rare cases of action packs.

Reason: Cause I wanted to....youse gots a problem with dat?
I'm very happy with this set. But these are the things I would change.
I would change the bases back to the non AE bases.
I'm all for chase figures but not God Packs. Opening a chase fig is good enough. Don't need to further rub it in to the other people around that you got 4 super rares too. But for the love of god don't make the chase figs the most popular and game breaking characters. Frog and Thor Buster are very good choices. Lamp Bats and E2 not so much.
Feats and BST's should go back in the boosters. Certain feats are just necessary. Fortitude being top in my mind. And bystanders are fun to fill in that last couple points needed on a team. BFC's can be done away with. Event Dials are fine as prizes.
I really like how you mailed the brick figs with the product. That is an excellent idea.
While I love this game, I haven't played in a tournament for months now. However, my online HCRealms play has totally dominated, so that explains that a bit.
I skipped out on the midnight release for the first time. Wanted to wait until Sat to buy my first booster. Then broke down and bought two yesterday.
If I was more flush with cash, I would have had a case on Wednesday, though!

agreed, opening a booster with a super rare is enough for me! i only have one chase and bought it from ebay.
I am a huge fan of this game, I have been ever since the first time I picked it up way back when unleashed was coming out. I am not the best player and I really dont play at venues. It is just me and my friends. I am sure we are not flollowing the updated rules. We have changed a few things just to suit us and the way we enjoy playing. However, that is what is so fantastic with this game. We don't get to play much but we always have fun when we do. I never left this game. I have a large collection now, and play whenever we can. This set has been a long time coming. I am thrilled with it. This is what sets need to be. I like them very specific. The theme is key. I mean think about it, we received just about every thor-centric character I can think of. Not only that, but they are great sclupts and great dails. I give this set a 9 out of 10. There are more figures in this set I want then any other i can think of in a long time. Even the commons are great. I mean, holy #### a 19 defense with invunerability for only 43 points. I would also like to thank this site and it's posters for keeping the dream of heroclix alive. I come to you are all my information and conversation on heroclix. I don't post often but I visit regularly. You have kept the light shining in the cold dark winter that was 2008. Thank you hcrealms and thank you Neca
