Isn't this kind of like Chase Stein's SP? Won't they be able to carry any Asgardian regardless?
Chase's power specifically says regardless of their symbol. Valkyrie does not make that distinction, so I would think it does not apply.

Phalanx should also get a look for their "other" keyword... because who else is a fun Soldier? Cr Green Lantern (Hal), every swarm's friend. Hal and 3 Phalanx leave 50pts for another Soldier worth toting around... like maybe an E Hive Trooper (or two!) for Hal? Or a Thunderer?
The best part of every new set? Crazy new teams.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention: Fantastic article!

I'll be the first to admit I get blinded by the fact that I like to play comic accurate theme teams. My first thought when seeing these guys was: who's a robot that has the GL TA or Avengers TA, so I can cart them all around. Never once did Hal enter my mind.
Maybe I'll mod Hal into a Super-Phalanx.

My confession is that when I start looking at swarms of generics, I will care less about themes if the team itself is still amusing/entertaining.
When I run my OMAC armies, they usually run with Superman Robot and sometimes Ahab (free move never hurts). Some generics just need the extra help.
Though the shoe on the other foot is still waiting for the right point total at my venue that will let me finally run Kobra and Jason Burr with some feats and my army of Vet Fanatics (I'm up to 14).
When it comes to swarms... I just try to balance what's going to amuse me against what's going to potentially waste time (not provide an entertaining game).

Unless, it's specified, like it is with Chase Stein, you cannot carry figures who are uncarryable. Unless Crosswinds is down there is no carrying of Thor. (Unless it's a non-flying Thor like the con-"exclusive" Mighty Thor.)
Valkrie's 4 range goes very nicely with her carry ability.
I'm a big fan of these generics, they're very fun. I also like the general philosophy of generics that are dangerous, but get out of the way after a successful hit by a strong hero/villain.
We've seen very solid generics in past sets (Supernova, Collateral Damage, Origin, and Arkham Asylum all come to mind), but I like seeing these that go even further to enhance thematic armies.

This is the key. All other characters with a SP that says "carry" are still constrained to the carry rules. Also, Chase Stein is constrained to the carry rules on any character BUT ones with the Runaways keyword.
"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."
-Juggernaut to Hulk

Although, it does mean that they themselves can be carried. Thor's Mighty Chariot can carry a valkrie and Balder forward, then if Balder gets hurt, the valkrie can carry him away to safety (or at least as safe as five squares will take them)
I've been building all sorts of teams with the Asgardian generics and having fun with them.
SR Valkyie
LE Brunhild
2 x C Valkrie
=290 pt of valkrie goodness
Any suggestions for how to best fill-in those last ten points?
The Asgardian Warriors are freakin Brutal. I played 400pts, Balder, 3 warriors, 4 valkyries.
Used the warriors to tie up and weaken, used Balder to finish off. Anybody takes a hit, back to the Valkyries for healing, finished the game only losing 2 of the warriors and 1 valkyrie. It also helped rolling 5-6s for blades...
All this talk about the valkyrie carry ability is making me think of the instance of her healing at range. Seems there is alot of liberties being taken with the rules. I wonder how long until we get a rules arbitrator or the like from wizkids.
Another thing I like about the Asgardian Warriors and Valkyries is how their point costs complement each other. You add 2 and you get 75 points, meaning for a 2+2 mix you get exactly 150 points and for 4+4, you get 300, if you're playing a bigger game, you can easily add an Asgardian god to lead a mixed swarm team and they'll always work fine together.
Even a 300 pts simple combo of:
2xWarrior 74
2xValkyrie 76
Heimdall 149
for a total of 299 of fast moving, hard hitting, self-supporting Asgardian team.
In 600 points I could easily see 4 Warriors, 4 Valkyries with Odin as a Supreme Commander... And with 10 AV the Valkyries stand a pretty good chance of healing Odin if he happens to take a hit - or (and/or) carrying him around while he blasts the opposition.
A 200 points Hela is another fine choice... It all really shows how this time someone actually thought about what teams would people build and from what.
All I know is,is that SR Surtur and 4 Fire Demons plus Camouflage and Skulduggery on Surtur for 300pts! is amazing. All that high AV charges plus willpower + Surtur's Giant reach is incredible + 2 theme team Probs. Glory!!! It's definatly not a strategic team. Charge - attack ,push -attack, rinse, repeat. Devistating!!!
No doubt he's brought that behemoth Brock Sampson with him, he's gonna go sickhouse on our asses
One thing that I hate though is that thanks to the keywords requirements none of the 5 Thors from Supernova (all still officially tournament legal!) can be the Asgardian swarm leaders, since they all lack the Asgardian keyword (and how lame is that?!). And The Mighty Thor could really benefit from Valkyries' healing (15-16 DV!) and carrying (no flight) and with something like Trick Shot he could demolish enemies from range from behind the phalanx of Asgardian Warriors...
Here's hoping they will one day errata them to have the supposedly basic keyword.

Has someone tried to claim that valkrie could make healing rolls from range? I'm not seeing the need for an official rules arbitrator to slap that one down.
