View Poll Results: Do you think we'll see LE cardboard in the future
It will keep costs down for Wizkids/NECA to not print them so I dont see why they would in future sets. If they save money in that aspect maybe the cost per figure will drop....yea right....
Print & Play cards have proved to be quite the little debate amongst the heroclix community haven't they?
Dana, you know as well as I that if it weren't this, it would be something else.

Respectfully, that's ridiculous and quite a leap from what the PnP announcement stated.

While we all know there are those without the resources themselves to get PnP working for them, it's hard for me to believe (though admittedly not impossible) that these same players know no one willing to help them out. (i.e. other players or, say, Kinko's)
IMHO, this is a growing improbability in the digital age.

I see no reason to expect that lack of a "per booster" cardboard element will somehow affect the price of plastic, but that's just me.

Agreed.
For my part, I can easily believe that there will be some cardboard elements offered in the future as prizes or what-not. PnP just makes them more accessible in the long run is all.

Wow. Lately this board has had as much "DOOM! I R NEVAR PLAYIN' AGAINS!" as the City of Heroes forum, lol. This is a relatively minor change to a game whose rules are CONSTANTLY evolving. I mean, the very simple concept of superheroes flying (and carrying eachother around) has been changed - by my count - eighty bajillion times since Heroclix launched.
In regards to the question this poll poses: I voted "no" because that's what I HOPE will happen. Feats and Event Dials are lame prizes anyway... and now they wouldn't really be a "prize" at all. LE figures are definitely the way to go... and in my opinion they always have been.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing a mini booster of actual printed cards come out as a prize. All the cards for the set in a printed format. This way the completionists can have them in their pretty glossyness.
When they tell us we have to print out the figure cards, I will be done with this game.

Yeah, I understand the replacement LE figures needing cards printed for them as it seemed to have been a rush job, but if future sets require it for the entire set then I think I'm done too.
I personally will be glad to see the end of LE Feat cards and LE BFCs...I hope we still see some LE Event Dials.

I didnt vote because I am on the fence about this. I think if u polled all those who are against it you would find them to be either hard core collectors or hard core gamers. I could be wrong. Seriously tho , does making it print and play really diminish the value of the original?? I for one dont see how since , no matter how good your printer is, you cannot make an exact copy of the original feat/bfc card . The material used for those feat cards seems to be a blend of "cardboard" and plastic, not even picture printer paper looks like it or feels like it. Original versions of feats and BFC's will be still valueable and tradeable to the market.
I think if we don't speak up and tell the NECA we want carboard, they are just going to walk over us and soon take away character cards and tell us we can print those at home too.
It doesn't make sense to me that they want to cut out feats, because they are always going to have the expense of printing out character cards, unless of course they are trying to make them print and play as well. If you use the rationale of figuring that they are always going to have to print character cards then how much harder and more cost effective is it really going to be to print some additional feat cards to a set?
I think were talking small numbers in the grand scheme of things, and they shouldn't worry so much about saving a thousand bucks as they should about potentionaly pissing off the heroclix community and losing much more. I know if they stop printing character cards to figures that I'm out.

Don't make me laugh. Since when do companies who utilize and implement cost saving strategies ever pass on the savings to the consumer? The answer is never. Greedy corporations always keep the extra, so even if they save a whole thousand or two on not printing feats, that savings will never be passed onto us, it will just go into their profit margin.
I don't understand how any company Topps or NECA can cry about profit. They need to look at how much they are paying their CEO's if they are having a problem with profit margins.
I know from an inside source that the LE prize support kit for HoT cost retailers $17.99 and you know the company is making profit off that number so it cost them way less than $17.99 to manufacture 18 figures 15 event dials and 25 feat cards.
With that being said you know that a regular booster with 5 figures and 1 feat card which retails for $10.99 probably cost a $1.00 to manufacture. How much more profit can you expect to make. They are paying China-men $.50 an hour to manufacture them, so the labor is a not problem either. Just like most companies and banks the top person or CEO is probably being paid way too much than what he/she is worth and he/she is the sole source of their financial woes.
