I'm not certain how people can actually complain about his dial not having impervious. For the point cost and dial this fella has, he is rediculous. Every time I've played him, he has just slaughtered my opponent. Impervious would be in the "too much" realm.
You know definitely a good piece, no denying. But I just feel the Supernova vet was much better for a few more points. If you don't have the SN vet and get this guy cool, but otherwise I was hoping for a little more. Still very dangerous, but I agree...no impervious? and the set is called hammer of thor and he doesn't get ONE special power? Isn't he the keystone of the whole set? pulsewave anyone? still pretty darn cool in general.
do put slippery on thor. and watch him eliminate any swarm team trying to base him, with two targeting precision! (if you still roll a 1 though, your'e really born unlucky!) :)
I pulled this guy in our venue's marquee sealed event (the only one I've pulled, I might add), and he just stomped. Played him again the next week in a 10-figure, no-point-limit game, he was one of the only figs left standing (Chariot and World's Finest being the other 2). A friend of mine played him, the FCBD Iron Man, and HoT Cap together, won our last tournament. He's probably the most brutal common I have ever seen. I have no complaints about him at all, not even the "missing" Impervious. IMO, the Super Strength trait and Invulnerability for 7 out of 9 clicks more than make up for it.
Sculpt DOES NOT IMPRESS me. He is a beast on the board though, no doubt about it. Great tent pole. Dangerous anywhere on his dial. Indomitable + shellhead = insanity.

i agree on all points, but indom and shellhead dont work together. :/ Still insane though!

I want to reaffirm my enthusiasm for this piece. I played him in a tournament recently at 1000 points with Immortal Contempt, Monster Hunter, and Alias, and he went the entire tournament without taking damage, going up against a TON of scary stuff including Fin Fang Foom, Thor's Chariot, Mighty Thor, and dozens of lesser figures. He won me a Mjolnir (fittingly enough).

As the "Superman" of the Marvel Universe I think Thor still gets the short end of the stick as his incarnations are never as powerful or impressive as Supes which I never understand since Thor is a FRIKKIN GOD!! That being said this is a very well designed experienced level figure which brings a great deal of potential to the table. Steady Damage, DV and AV values as well as great range and mobility make Thor a top level threat for the points. When building a team for him make sure to have a way to deal with stealth and tie up figures. Slippery is an excellent feat for him but it is expensive. If your using old special objects have him carry the desk for a 20 defense. With his range and RS it will be quite some time before he has to hit someone with it. The Tombstone is not bad to give him a good chance to avoid a hit as well. For further unrestricted abuse put ICWO on him with the Bat Alpha Oracle on the card to give him Energy Shield. I do miss the Impervious and the Avengers TA ( oh..the T Bolt possibilities..sniff) but Indomitable is a tremendous ability.
I don't know why some people think Shellhead does not work with him because unless there is some new errata I'm not aware of it certainly does. Shellhead's prerequisites are Impervious, Invulnerability or Toughness and the character must have 2 tokens on him for the feat to kick in. It does not require pushing damage to be taken so Indomitable, Power Cosmic or Quintessence are icing on the cake for a fig with this feat.
I can only imagine what the veteran Thor would look like. Maybe that's where the 18 DV with Impervious would come in. Hope we find out someday.
Awesome fig! Even better than the Supernova: Thor Vet, except that this one doens't have the Avengers TA or Energy Explosion. Still, higher defense and slightly higher damage average.

How much can you take, and keep moving forward?
