How could he ever really be for the pantheon when him and his children like Fenris play an integral role in Ragnarok? You could never trust the guy. NEVER. If he did anything that was considered good it's all for a reason later on down the road and it won't be good.
Explain that to Odin. He often used Loki's guile in the sagas. Which, to me, trump the comics.
Besides, Loki is too clever to be wasted... and he's also saved Asgard on several occasions. Of course, sometimes it's because he's put them in jeopardy, but really, Loki is more the Trickster than the Megalomaniac. At least until Ragnarok gets much closer.

Ragnarok has happened, and Loki got his chance to reform. He didn't take it. In fact, it could easily be said he's more meglomaniac then ever right now.
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
I thought the reasoning in WWWTS was pretty lame. Seriously, the best argument is 'there can't be two Captain Americas'? Yet exactly that has happened multiple times in the past. Hell, the New Invaders had two on one team....
Bucky is a kid in his dad's shoes, and has not earned the shield.
Well if you guys are reading Invincible Iron Man # 21

That's because, in the Marvel Universe, Loki is a woman now. So, of course Loki's a meglomaniac.

Something closely resembling Ragnarok has happened.
The Nine Worlds weren't burned to a crisp, Thor didn't drown in the Midgard Serpent's venom. Loki and Heimdall didn't kill each other. And while Odin is gone, he wasn't eaten by Fenris (I don't think).
Of course, I'm attempting to justify a more traditional Nordic view to people who have no idea that Marvel's way of doing it is very very very far away from the way it was originally portrayed.
(And like I said, I'm hoping Loki is less cackling supervillain, and more trickster/selfish/will work with the pantheon on occasion. He's far more interesting that way.)

1. So the Sentry - supposedly one of the most powerful being in Marvel U - has to constantly struggle with the Void, but Cyclops can contain it fairly easily? Granted, it was only a piece of teh Void, and as he says, he was trained by one of the most powerful psychics ever (Phoenix), but... it came across as pretty lame, I thought.
2. Was Beast leaving anti-climactic or what? This has been built up to be a pretty big deal, and Beast had really become one of the pillars of the X-men. But it happens on the last page, practically off-panel, and Cyclops acts like it's no big deal? In a way Cyclops reacting like that pretty much reinforces everything Beast has been saying about him, but man, there should have been something more than that.

Well, to be fair to Cyclops, didn't he have Apocalypse living in his head for a while? And there's a bit of a difference between random schmuck with no psychic shields or training (Bob) and leader of X-Men who has been trained by three of the most powerful psychics on the planet who has a previous history of having an uberpowerful evil presence dwelling in his skull (Cyke).

That makes me sad. Beast is awesome.

Good points. It seemed ridiculous, because Emma Frost and Xavier are literally right there and they can't do it, but in retrospect, they were also afraid it would take them over, so I guess it made sense. I'm glad Cyclops is finally getting his due, but in trying to show his strength, they're making it seem like he can do anything.

The worst part is, it was a really good sub-plot. Beast has a lot of good reasons for not sticking around, and it even makes sense that he would leave to join SWORD. It was just like they built it all up and there was no pay-off.
Eh.. its just another way for them to force how AWESOME Cyclops is. I heard he trapped void in his little black box. The black box that no psychic can ever penetrate.

Where was this box when Apocalypse was in him?
It's similar to Star Wars films, where the acronym "GLMTUAHGA" describes random-### things being added that make you go 'huh'?
So it's "JQ&BMTUATGA" for this situation.

All that did not happen did not happen because Thor managed to see it was all a cycle. He broke the cycle, so things did not happen the way it was "supposed" to happen.

I seem to be confused. Was there another Ragnarok after Simonson's?
Even Simonson's run didn't go down like the myths...

Yes, there was another one. Around the same time as "Avengers: Disassembled". It was a pretty good story, and Walt Simonson read it and said he liked it.
It had some interesting highlights. Like, Thor helping Surtur destroy Asgard. Thor beheading Loki (tho his head kept on talking, and commenting on how Thor must be nuts). And Thor removing both of his own eyes before he could see the pattern and then destroying the threads of fate that kept Ragnarok in a recurring cycle. Not to mention Thor finding out it was all a setup by "Those Who Sit Above In Shadow" (gods worshipped by the Norse gods), one of whom looked a bit like Crom.
1. So the Sentry - supposedly one of the most powerful being in Marvel U - has to constantly struggle with the Void, but Cyclops can contain it fairly easily? .
Matt,I've come to the conclusion that Brian Bendis is living vicariously through the Sentry.I think BMB sees himself as the all-powerful-can-do-anything superguy(thanks to the ego-building abilities of Joey Q.)that sees the detractors as the Void(a force that rises whenever he does "good".).
I think I could like Sentry better if someone other than BMB were writing him.Somehow,I can't accept the fact that he is supposed to have all this power and that makes me want to care about him in the same way as a Superman or Silver Surfer.
The "Man on the Silver Mountain" is gone.Rest in peace Ronnie James Dio(1942-2010)
