Judge Dredd is practically crying to get remade. Even if they're European only Battle Packs I'd want one... A lot.
Other than that, how about a general Silver Age set? It may kind of suck but it was a huge part of comic history.
Also Maximum Carnage. Sure it's very 90's but Shriek, Doppelganger, and Carrion need to be made and Carnage remade. Plenty of heroes got involved in that storyline, too. So there'll be no shortage of people to update and make.
Any 25-character set needs to have more appeal than the same IP in a seven-character action pack. So when considering any given property, compare it to existing action packs/collector's sets and think about how well they sold.
A 25-character Invincible set was mentioned above. Considering the poor sales of the Invincible collector's set we already got, I just don't see this working.
The Marvel 2099 collector's set sold well, so a Marvel Future set could work. It would probably need to be very X-Men focused, with a few non-X-Men characters like Iron Man 2020.
The Alient Green Lantern Corps set sold great. A 25-character set based on Lanterns could work.
Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. did okay, but not stellar. Given that it is a highly-recognised licence with two movies, that's a concern - probably couldn't support a very large set.
I agree that not every set would make sense to produce because it is so niche, however, the model doesn't have to follow the 25 character set model, but instead, could be anything between a full blind booster release. Marvel Alternate realities could have earth X, Ultimates, AoA, zombies and 2099 figures.
Or you could do several 7-10 figure sets that would have the most popular pieces from a story arc.
Maximum Carnage could have a couple of the different spider-villains/anti-heroes.
we could also see stuff like the halo actionclix packs which had vehicle box sets with some figures packed in. This is a different way to see the batmobile and even thor's chariot released in the future.
Maybe when posting what releases you'd like to see, throw in what kind of release it would be and what it would include?

I'm with you on this. Some stuff is just not going to sell outside a blind booster, where the popular characters support sales of the lesser lights (even though it's often the lesser lights I'm after...). Still, I think there is room for further big box releases like the Watchmen pack. I think a set based on the X-Men/Wolverine movies would work and also have appeal outside the comics fraternity. If these packs also included copies of the latest rules books and PAC they could also act as oversized starter sets.
This may come as no surprise to anyone familiar with my posts, but I could use me a 25 figure set of nothing but Teen Titans friends and foes (with a colossal Trigon, booyah!) I know that Crisis was mainly Teen Titans, but I still need these pieces (not even including remakes):
Omen
Herald
Bumblebee
Joker's Daughter
Flamebird
Golden Eagle
Tula
Kole
Pantha/Wildebeest
Phantasm
Red Star
Mirage
Dagon
Killowat
Redwing
Prestor Jon
Battalion
Minion
Argent
Risk
Joto
Prysm
Fringe
Hero
Bushido
Aquagirl
Bombshell
Power Boy
Little Barda
Son of Vulcan
Lagoon Boy
Hawk (holly)
Granted, some of those are pretty obscure, and this is more like a full roster of what hasn't been made, but we could probably use at least half of these to fill out rosters and such.
As I mentioned elsewhere, Authority Clix would be awesome.
Authority clix would be SWEET!!!
Also, and this would still be in the realm of Unlikelyville but, Almalgam Universe. Though they have enough characters to do a full fleshed out set of this.
about 3 or 4 years ago when wizkids had a survey on what we wanted in sets...that is how I voted.
Indy was a failure. Many reasons....but mostly because the fan base only read 1 or 2 lines at most. The other characters were not an interest to the buyers.
What I said then applies now. Imagine a set from Dark Horse or Top Cow...with 18 random pieces and 4 LEs per set..they could be boosters or complete box sets like Watchmen. I think it would be more profitable if they were smaller like the Batman Alpha set. They would sell more boosters...and players would not waste money on Indy figs they did not care about.
Throw in some cool generics with each Indy release. Each set could have a different set of generics:
Zombies
Nazis
Aliens
Demons
etc.
If the generics were cool...players not interested in the Indy lines might still buy.
and of course the biggie...License and Artwork would be so much less of a hassle than it was with the Indy set!
I called it 4 years ago....I hope they do keep moving it that way!
oh and I would have 1 massive DC and 1 massive Marvel set each year.
150/120 figs each like Infinity Challenge or Hypertime sets.
They would sell way more boosters...make way more money and have more time to make sure every set was a better product.
What players told me when IC and Hypertime came out was that everyone bought soooo many more boosters to collect the set....I think that would be a big profit maker for NECA.
Then they could still release a least 4 smaller sets or more to go with them, like the Starter and Watchmen sets.
wes
Back in the day...when Universe was released...we found out that the 12 Uniques from IC were all on the same mold....and that is the reason no Xplosion Uniques ended up in the set. And the pieces that were remade from IC and Xpl were all grouped based on which 'mold sets' they used.
Supposedly there is a newer mechanism for the molds. But it may still revolve around x-number of figures per mold. If so...that is a strong factor in deciding what and how a set gets made.
If 12 figs per mold is standard...that makes the new 60 figs sets seem about right. (5 mold sets per release) But what about the BiBtB figs and other specials.
Do we have any such info on current or soon to be released stuff in this regard?
Makes you wonder about the Starter sets to date. If it was 12...then the ones with 6 figures could have just been doubled up. But there have been a few with 7 figures too???
age of apocalypse
marvel zombies
midnight sons
earth x
annihilation
what if?
creature feature (dracula, frankenstein, werewolf by night, son of satan etc etc)
now if we are going all that...how about some adult theme sets:
Lady Death and Purgatori
Tarot and Raven
Vampirella and Satanna
