Great, so Nekron and Black Hand, two of the biggest players in the Blackest Night storyline, are chases. We were at a decent place with chase figures, with more obscure variants ending up in those slots. Thorbuster, Thor Frog, Sinestro Corps Batman, the SI Skrulls. This sucks, as I really want both chase pieces.

OK, got my initial negative response out of the way. THe rest of the news is good, and I'm eagerly anticipating the new sets and releases. Overall I'm excited for this.

Emphasis mine, totally agree!

LOL, cue the cries of "Meh, couldn't care less about these two Chases", declarations of inequity that they are Chases, and countless debate as to the validity of Chases as part of the product line as a whole.

Well, if I wasn't skipping the Brave and the Bold already, Nekron and Black Hand as chases are a good enough reason for me to boycott the set. Did they hire back Tuttle and forget to tell us, because this set has his stench all over it.

On a more positive note, everything else sounds pretty cool

Chases = BOO
Web of Spider-Man = Meh
Brightest Day = Sweet
DC 75th Anniversary -Yeehaw! I like themes that in reality aren't themes cause then people can't complain that so and so character in a theme wasn't made.

So overall better good than bad, but God I hope I get either Nekron or Black Hand in my case cause I will need both and don;t feel like paying for both. PREEMPTIVE TRADE: Lampost Batman for either one!

Is this a full set or just a collector-type set?

As for the chases, well, I hate chase figures...but I can live w/o these. They may be the 2 biggest Blackest Night characters, but outside of a BN theme, I can't see myself missing them.

With all these 'bonus' sets in there (starter, Brightest Day, even promo figs), I do wish there was more than one Marvel set. At least Web of SPider-Man will be flat-out awesome!

That disappoints me as well. That and making Nekron a chase figure. Very irksome.
