#3) They've finished adjusting to the new situation already. Hammer of Thor was ready to send to the production facilities. In fact, TOPPS did that while they still owned the rights. It was done. I mean DONE. Brave and the Bold was not. We were told in no uncertain terms, that it was not finished. Can you guess what that means? yes, they still had work to do, and it was done by the new NECA/Wizkids... but do you know what else? they were the same people. Same lead designer, his crew, picked from the old crew. These people were already familiar with the minute details of the system, the set they were working on, and the five year plan. The time they needed to adjust to those things was very short. It probably took longer to get adjusted to their new offices.
What we don't know about BatB is:
How much of the set was completed
- Was it 25%? 50%? 90%?
How much time they had to complete it on the timeline they had
- Was it a month? 4 months?
How much leeway they had to change things
- Were there possible limitations by NECA? DC?
All of these things could have a major effect on the way that BatB was completed. And things we might not ever know.
25 figure collector sets are new. Digital Sculpting is new. Golden and Modern Age play formats are new. but the rest? We have to take Jake at his word, and assume its part of his five year plan.
It's my humble opinion that milking 5 years out of the clix game, WITHOUT some new licenses coming down the pipe, is a joke.
If they don't start beefing up the player base and bringing in some characters outside the Big 2 comic companies, then no amount of planning is going to save their jobs. They need NEW characters to be clixing, not Nteenth remakes of a few popular characters and Z list nobodies.
I've got confidence in Seth and Jake, they seem to love the game and love comics..... this game is their income so they will do everything they can to make it the best they can. I also believe they are trying to listen to the fan base, but we must admit if they tried to understand how people feel from reading the Realms their heads would explode from the differing opinions (sometimes within a single post).
Wizkids have done several things I really like such as "plug aind play" and making golden/modern age optional at the venues. Some of the new mechanics look very interesting and will probably need time to mature properly.
Currently I have boxes of figs I have not got around to playing yet, and we are getting more this week. Even if they drop the game I could continue playing for years and every set they release increases that and at least gives me a handful of figs I really wanted.
