Maybe this is just me, but I'd rather spend $100 on the chase Kal-el then $100 on that collectors set. Unless some of the figs are really playable. But that's coming from a pure player and not a collector.

I'd also like to know what "they are taking a beating" actually means. Like verbally from people, or retailers aren't ordering any of the sets, or they are barely making any money on it at $100.

I quickly got over the price tag of Watchmen and have already pre-ordered a set. But what do you mean by "taking a beating"?

I think the Watchmen Sets biggest stumbling point is that we don't know who the 25 figures are. We can guess, but ultimately, we won't know until we see list. I think some people are concerned that they're going to be getting a bunch of extra stuff they may not want.

Agreed. I think once the set has been heavily previewed AND released many people will BatB their opinions on this set.

Expect much interest once previews are released and especially once the set has been released.

Here here. I think the other thing is that, unless there is lots of amazing goodness other than the main characters, the secondary market is not going to be their friend. I mean, if I spent $100 so that I could resell the contents, and there are only a few figures that people are buying...then I'm sure as heckfire going to make sure that I can get my money back through those figures.

I just wouldn't fork out 100.00 for a set. It'll never happen unless I thought I could come out ahead on it AND keep a fig or two I wanted to. Giant Manhattan...gone.

I think they mean NECA took their lumps from the licensing agreement and how much that had to cough up to purchase the rights to the set. Probably one of the trickiest in comicbookdom to get and for that I give the guys and gals of NECA a serious KUDOS!

i received my first paycheck ever today, and comin in just south of 100$ it kinda made me realize how hard it is to get the money, and pay bills and whatever.

After quick read through I'm quite suprised with the watchmen reactions - around here people are just excited that the watchmen are made into clix (and come on, it's price of one brick around here). The problem is that most the normal clix are pretty unknown around here (saddly Finlands culture is not so overriden with superheroes), but Watchmen is pretty known.

I'm happy with watchmen ! At least I'll get my fav comic characters and not 90% of stuff which I don't know / enjoy playing... I would love batman sets with the most-known characters etc... Maybe I'm also over-enjoyed from the non-randomness as I hate to spend money upon stuff which I don't know (being student = not that much money).

And something mindbreaking: Rorschach and deadpool on the same team, think about it :D (wish that I just had deadpool...)

The $100 price tag puts it out of my price range for a one-shot purchase. If however, they had printed 4 sets of Watchmen at $25 per set, I'd've been interested in picking up the one that contained the most figures that I wanted. Still waiting to hear how much the price tag is on Doc Manhattan. I have all of the colossals. They are all gathering dust in the basement, so spending lots of money on big-price purchases is just not attractive these days.

I can just imagine Deadpool pulling some goofy stunt on Rorschach, who has no sense of humor.

Then Rorschach drops Deadpool down an elevator shaft.

Then Deadpool regenerates.

And then we start all over again.

That's the funny thing. Once I saw the price point on Watchmen, I skipped buying Brave and the Bold, so I knew I could buy Watchmen. I'd much rather pay for that set, because it'll be a heck of a lot easier to trade for BatB (and I probably wouldn't have pulled a chase anyway).
