Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: The Killing Joke
Batman: the Long Hallowe'en
Batman: Dark Victory
JSA: The Golden Age
Kingdom Come
Identity Crisis
Saga of the Swamp Thing
Green Arrow: the Longbow Hunters
I am not removing this until we get the rest of the Marauders, Cameron Hodge and Genoshan Magistrates. Thank you Wizkids. Uncanny X-Men was perfect.
I cannot recommend any of the Jeff Leob TPBs. If you have any experience with entertainment media outside of comics (such as movies or TV programs) you will find his work to be horribly derivative, and for no good reason.
I've been reading lots of DC TPBs from the local library, and can recommend:
Watchmen (if you haven't read it yet!)
Y The Last Man (if you commit to reading every TPB)
Fables
If you want a real treasure, try Zot! or Tales of the Beanworld.

You didn't like Batman: What Ever Happened to the Cape Crusader? Since you know Alan Moore is the Superman to Gaiman's Supreme.
Good list though

I'd say for Vacation reading: Yes, Loeb is a bad idea. If you have it at your library and there isn't much else...I'd say the Loeb/Sale Series is worth checking out at least once...that way you can see how far he has fallen.

i know your looking for dc and hopefully this still helps.
all books i buy from marvel and dc are always single issue comics.
if i buy trades its gotta be walking dead and hellboy stuff. awesome vaction reading these two are.
Any of the Nightwing trades by Chuck Dixon are great. Y: The Last Man. Fables. And I know it's not DC but Invincible, seriously. You will thank everyone who recommends it to you.
Alright, so I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I'm looking for some good reading material to pack with me that I can sit and read on the plane, by the pool, on the beach, etc. I have read Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, multiple Green Lantern books, but I was curious what some of your favorite trades are and any that you would suggest that someone should pick up and read. Thanks for any suggestions and rep will be given.

I haven't read it yet. Batman: R.I.P. and Final Crisis left a bad taste in my mouth and I dropped most of my DC books after that. Gaiman is a huge step up from Morrison, but I just haven't been able to forgive DC for giving Morrison free reign and a bag of smack.

I forgot Batman: Year One. Sorry.
If you read Y.O. then follow it with Long Hallowe'en and then Dark Victory, it makes a pretty good trilogy.
