I would buy Crisis boosters just for the chance to pull some of the Super-rares or chases. It's ridiculous but Sinestro goes for around $50 on unmentionable websites.
Truth on that. That's how I got one originally. I weighed some packs at a local hobby store and picked the heaviest. Lo and behold, the Spirit of Vengence was upon me!
But seriously though, Crisis is my favorite DC set hands down ( Secret Invasion on the Marvel side ). I am a card carrying member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society, but I echo what everyone's been saying. If you have the money to burn, buy the boosters. If not, check out the units section and see what figures you want and then get them off the interweb for a decent price.
Crisis MVP's ( in my opinion ): Chief, Nightwing, Aqualad, Green Lantern, Rip Hunter, Knightfall Batman and the Roy Harper LE ( and Thunderer of Qward, but he's in the Anti-Monitor action pack ))
Looking for some Heroclix fun in central Maryland? Check out the Games & Stuff Clix Club in Facebook!
yea, i cracked a case of brave and the bold, and the last pack i opened from the case had a Manhunter in it. i need 4 Sr's for the set now. I had to pick up another brick just to have extras to trade off since the case evened out so much.
As for budgeting goes though, im down for a case of Web of Spiderman right now, and ive got this other disgusting Magic habit realy. Thank god Netrunner, OverPower, and several other games are no longer supported.
Working in a cardshop sucks when your bored and decide find out whats on the distributors list.
I'm buying just a brick of WoS and thats mainly for the Brick fig. And I got rid of my magic habit so I could get back into heroclix. There may not be gaming support or people who play around here but If I want to trade or talk clix I come on here. Plus I have more fun with it than magic. Unless you have the next best $1000 deck you don't win and no one i knew ran anything fun like the decks I built, all they wanted was win win win. Plus I sold just my rares and Mythics for around $1000. But I do miss you Jace and Gideon.
Buy em. Beyond the chases, even a lot of the SRs go for a lot and are quite playable (and tradable/sellable if they aren't your thing). And even if you don't get an SR/Chase, the set is loaded with playable figs.
Good set. The price isn't even increased over suggested retail. It's a very fair price. But ...
If you're not a big DC fan and aren't thrilled with figures in the set then you won't be happy.
Comical, Woolverine, Pop of Pop's Culture Shoppe and Wellsboro Comic Con.
Consider it all joy! James 1:2
Believe me when I say Trigon is WAY better than Specter or a stupid chase Superman. You will never have more fun playing Heroclix than when you're playing Trigon in a 300 point game.
Edit: I'm not being sarcastic.

i do not really like trigon i only have him because i want all the figs from 1-60 and all i am missing is supergirl
Chase packs were easy in Crisis because they were generally much heavier than any other pack (though Trigon and Spectre also showed up in heavy packs). If they are single packs then chances are pretty good that they have been picked through already.
If you're hesitant and primarily a Marvel guy, pass on them. It's hard to believe they still have packs left. I haven't seen any Crisis or SI or HoT around here in a long time. Who knows? If they are still sitting there after WOS comes out, they may be at a reduced price for you to buy or you might just decide that you were better off waiting for WOS to spend your money on. As a general rule, impulse buying is bad on many levels.
Let's Play "Whoizzit?"
