I just find it odd that we're going to get a core-mechanic that is so rooted in one Universe. Of course, they could name it something for the DC side of things - but that would be extra work on their part. I dunno - just the name of it has me thinking we may not see it on the DC side.
So, if that WERE te case (I have no idea either way) - would that change any of the speculation? Would WK give Marvel a core mechanic edge over DC and if so, do you think it will be overly powerful?
Those two questions alone have me chomping at the bit for WoS!
Of all the stuff in Web of Spider-Man i'd be 'concerned' about, I'd have to say the Web Shooter mechanic would be the one that bothers me the most. I'm currently failing to see how it is even a 'compelling' mechanic to include.
That and no one else but Spider-Man literally uses 'web shooters', so it's going to be limited to Spider-Man and his copiers. I guess if i'm being honest (as I type this), that might be good anyway. Can't taint the entirety of heroclix with a mechanic designed around Spider-Man.

I was thinking while I was typing my post 'if they just named it 'Swingline' then it could be applied across the brand.

Well if it's anything like the Sharpshooter Mechanic (which I am not complaining about the mechanic itself, because it's awesome), we'll see it on 2 figures, and then we won't see it again for another 2 sets, so it won't have any impact on the game.
As for what it actually is/does? I really couldn't say. Double target double token Incapacitate seems the most likely to me.

maybe it'll be something like a free action that let's you place a special marker under an opposing fig that they have to roll break away to move away from. simple, yet effective in certain situations.
I don't know. I hope characters have a separate webshooter value that replaces its base attack.
For example, Spider-Man's fists might give him an attack of 11... but his webs aren't as powerful, so it's treated as a 10. You know, in addition to whatever other effects webshooter gives.
When they say "new mechanic", I anticipate something that hasn't already been done. This attitude, of course, consistantly leaves me disappointed. lol.
I doubt it'll be Stunning Blow, Iron Spider special power, or a fancy way justifying an opponants-only TK. Those powers had already been introduced, so I don't think they would be billed as a "new mechanic" any more than full-range charge or light-objects-only super strength.
My prediction is something along the lines of nulifying adjacency rules. Web Shooting characters can move through threatened squares and squares occupied by other figures without having to stop.
PopularCollections takes your $ and delays shipping for months! They are called PC for a reason; everyone who rolls with them ends up wanting a re-do
When 2 target figures are adjacent for 5 or more turns, roll a d6. on a 1, Mephisto appears and moves one of the figures 4 squares away and heals them of all damage; Joe Quesada makes 14 billion dollars and loses all moral standings.

I think the double incap idea is a very good possibility, but maybe not all at once. Maybe it would be something like "This character can use Incapacitate. When this character succeeds at using Incapacitate on an opposing figure, place a Webbing token on his/her character card. A character with a Webbing token on it's character card may not perform any non-free actions. A character with a Webbing token may be given a power action to remove the Webbing token."
This would give the character two tokens (eventually). It could also make that character avoid attacking your characters for a while (if your opponent is really afraid of pushing, they might clear the turn after being incapacitated, take the action to push, clear, and then finally act).
My personal take (okay well wish) is that it's a lunge/tk multi-power.
Web Shooters: Give Spidey a power action. He may choose either of the following options. (1) Spider-Man may automatically break away and move adjacent to any opposing character within his target range and make a close combat attack as a free action. (2) Spider-Man has incapacitate, he may use it normally OR may make a ranged attack on any opposing figure he has line of sight to. If the attack is succeeds, give the opposing figure an action token and place them adjacent to Spider-man.
Dream BIG, but keep the small dreams around just in case...

Well if it's a symbol on the base, like Sharpshooter, Duo, Indomitable etc, then you can give the characters something else (like Charge, Running Shot, Plasticity etc), in their movement slot.

I still think it will be some kind of mechanic to grab characters as a free action that you have LOF to and pull them Towards you, possibly opening up the possibility of damaging them by having them hit a wall or something.
My guess is that it will be like incap plus. Spidey will make an attack which webs the opponent (making it so that they can not act) and in order to break free (no longer be incapped) the opponent has to make an attack on the web itself. I think that would represent what he does fairly well.
