I had the exact same problem! Well, not exactly the same, but I got killed twice by the same group because my team kept charging after guys when we obviously needed to regroup.
That seems to be the reoccuring theme. My party charges in, gets hacked up and then I followed close behind. Will have to look into setting up the others in my party before heading back into the fray. Not a bad game but you have to put in the time to learn the commands and tactics in order to get a good experience out of it.
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.
Right now my party consists of myself (human rogue), Alistair, Daveth & Jeron (?). Daveth is another rogue and it looks like Alistair and Jeron are fighters.

Oh, you need a mage...for healing and buffs and junk
This is the party that the Grey Wardens have put together for the joining ritual. I haven't been able to recruit anyone else yet. Heck, I'm not even a Grey Warden yet.

Don't worry, it can be a bit rough initially just getting used to it. You also want to have Daveth be defaulting to ranged combat with your current build. You can set that in the tactics. The best key is to team up with your tank (Jory or Alistar) and just grinding down the opponents one at a time to reduce the party size. Or, alternatively... charge in and #### with the archers/casters.
With a rogue, I found that getting close to one of them, then doing a Stunning attack (forget the name of it) and slashing them to pieces works wonders.
Of course, my current playthrough is a City Elf rogue (2-weapon). I love city elves, just for the ghetto background.

That's the main thing. Heaven forbid I should read the instruction manual.
Oh, instruction manual? Now that I think of it, I guess I can check that out...
And for any of the Dragon Age experts, should I assume that when my guys die during a battle, they aren't getting an experience points? I only ask because I felt some remorse taking out my first boss with all my teammates dead around me. Also, how can I convince me teammates that they should heal sometimes?
It seems that I'm going to be joining you guys now, since I just went out and bought a 360 Slim. Can't wait to start gaming!
This is my first updated console since I bought PS2 in 2002. So I'm definitely looking forward to playing it. So far I've only picked up 2 games: Dead Rising and Bioshock. I've tried Dead Rising before and really liked it, but I haven't tried Bioshock. However, it comes very well recommended. Any other games you guys would recommend?
Looking forward to playing with you guys. I'll let you know my Live tags once I'm set up online.
The Ever Growing Trickster and Pied Piper KO List!
