The story started out pretty strong, but began to fall flat only to pick back up again towards the end. I am not a regular Hulk reader, but I jumped on with Planet Hulk, World War Hulk and continued with this 2 year long story. It had it's high and low points, but I felt that it finished pretty strong and was glad that I picked it up. What I am not really thrilled about are the multiple Hulks running around. I would have preferred if they would have depowered a couple of them and sent Lyra back into the future. Hulk is another character that was unique like Wolverine and then they decided to make multiple versions of him which kind of ruined things for me. I don't care either way about Red Hulk and they should have depowered him and Betty IMO. I do think it will be interesting to see how he interacts with everyone else in the Avengers. I'm guessing since he is joining the good guys that they will power him down like they did with Juggernaut and other villains who have switched sides. I do like Skaar though and thought that Incredible Hulk #611 was great. Bruce Banner is no longer alone in the world and that was an excellent ending. Banner being fully in control for the first time and being the strongest Hulk yet will make for some very interesting stories. I had planned on dropping the book after this story was done, but I may stick around to see how it goes.
Best ending for a series EVER. Uh Newhart that is.
Suzanne Pleshette met Tom Poston on the set there and, well, they lived happily ever after... til he died, but then she died about a year later. Still, they were married for 6 years or so.
I completely missed all of this, and I am at peace with my decision. I am not gonna knock it for readers who loved (or even tolerated) these past two years, though. I won't grudge anyone's enjoyment of the Hulk.
My first favorite comic book was Hulk #188, back when Herb Trimpe was drawing and Len Wein was writing. I came back to the character during Peter David and Dale Keown's run (which I thought was brilliant) but I couldn't keep up due to my personal budget. I left only to come back to the series during Bruce Jones' run (another favorite of mine) but Jeph Loeb just ruined it for me with his Rulk claptrap (admittedly, after the weak ending of WW Hulk.) Maybe I'll give the series another chance, someday. It's gonna take a while, though.

He probably won't be there for long though as I'm sure it will be a continually rotating Avengers roster.
Eh, Bendis is saying he wants to work with Rulk as a redemption story. He seems to have taken a shine to Rulk, which worked well for Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, and Iron Fist!

Really? I dug Bruce Jones's run at first, but it got REAL old about two years in.
Hey, to each his/her own. That's why I am not gonna knock it if someone is reading Rulk and liking him. Just not my cuppa tea, thassall.

I hear ya, its just interesting to hear a different perspective. I didn't have a whole lot of fellow Hulk fans around growing up!
I have been a Hulk fan since I was eight years old. I used to watch the old live action series on TV, which I suppose kinda dates me. He is a great character and I am sure that at some point I'll start reading him again.

Ugh, I dunno. I'm still steering clear of any Bendis books. I just don't like his style anymore. The man has somehow made me sick of Luke Cage, which shouldn't be possible.
And I also wasn't a fan of Bruce Jones' Hulk run either. Just like Bendis, a case of interesting ideas with execution that left me cold.

I get that, but I'm thinking a Bendis-style character study will give Rulk the character that Loeb decided to withhold until his run was 3/4ths of the way over.
I'll check it out at any rate!

I'll leaf through it, but I expect him to have the same voice as every other Bendis character seems to have.
Every time I read a Bendis book, I get pissed all over again at how crappy Civil War was and he didn't even write that. Then I remember he wrote House of M and how awful THAT was. And then I remember that Wizard article where Bendis interviewed Millar about Civil War and they were just patting themselves on the back for writing the best-selling book ever and how wonderful they were, even though Millar said he basically wrote the whole thing in the hospital while puking his guts out and OH BOY DOES IT SHOW and then it becomes a moot point.
So I will spare myself the annoyance and stick to non-Bendis books.
