Some artists are very consistent and some are "hit and miss." I don't love all Dale's work, but he is an artist, and when he "hits" he knocks it out of the ballpark.
To me it's like Leonard Bernstein - when he was "on" he was absolutely one of the best ever - but when he was "off" his work was not that special.
Think about great ball players - the best EVER wouldn't get a hit 60% of the time!!!
Some artists are consistent but never "hit the long ball" and a VERY few are able to consistently amaze with their work - very few!
Consider the writers we enjoy in comics - how many always hit it out of the park? I can't think of one really!
So Dale, don't be discouraged - go for the fences!
