I actually think the wording is pretty straightforward, given that they apparently didn't want you pushing opponents into the smoke. So have to have started the turn in that square, and if it now has Hindering Terrain marker from Mysterio on it, the power is countered.
I think folks are confused because a) they are combining the "Hindering has to be in the square" with "character has to have started the turn in the square", where those two are actually separate requirements, and b) they want it to be more awesome against Willpower/Indom, when it really only seems to nerf those powers while the opposing character is in the square. Which means that the opposing character can move out and be fine, but if he's a character that doesn't want to move (a ranged attacker with Willpower but no Running Shot, for example, or a HTH combatant adjacent to Mysterio that he might actually not want to have to take a free poke from), it can be useful. Just probably not as useful as some people would like, unless there is an errata.

Personally, from the way I read it, and from viewing many discussions on it, I think you nailed it.
Mysterio decides to throw up some smoke cloud in Iron Fist's face so that his buddy Rhino can run in and smash his martial arts using butt and not have to worry about him avoiding the damage with super senses. Since IF started the turn in the square he is in, and he is occupying the smoke cloud presently. He takes some damage but still has his special power willpower.
On IF's turn, he now has to decided whether it is worth while to push and try to hit Rhino with some exploit weakness, but in the process take pushing damage since he began his turn in the square and is occupying the smoke cloud still, or leap away and not take pushing damage from it as he will end up in a different square then he began the turn in, EVEN IF he lands in another square of the hindering terrain created by the smoke cloud.
I think that is a pretty effective power.
But I do agree they really should put out a clarification just to prevent too much heated debate.
Until they get this worked out, or cleared up for us, I will be playing and ruling as follows:
Is the character in the square it started the current turn in? Yes or no
Does the character have a Smoke Cloud token placed by Mysterio in the square? Yes or no
If both are yes, they lose Super Senses, indomitable, and willpower
If either are no, all powers are there.
but that's the whole point, right? It's easy to see how it counters Willpower/Indom., but the Super-Senses portion, which the INTENT seems to be that of cancelling the power, is up in the air due to the "beginning of your turn" part.
ANd yes, it SUCKS if it only "practically" counters WP/INDOM.
I'm playing Mysterio, my friend plays Heimdall.
I throw smoke out on Heimdall. I then have a teammate attack Heimdall, but due to the wording Heimdall DOES NOT LOSE super-senses. He did not START the trun with smoke in his square.
Now it's his turn, he has now lost super-senses and indomitable. So if he has a token, he pushes, which is a good benefit, but not stellar by any means.
Now it's my turn, smoke comes up as it's the beginning of the turn, and again Heimdall has Super-senses.
THis power does NOT effectlively counter super-senses.
What you are missing is that no where in the special power description does it say that the smoke cloud must be in the square at the beginning if the turn. Only the character is required to be in the square at the beginning of the turn.

Exactly. Rep to you.

Yeah, I agree. Also it doesn't say that the character has to stay in that square, only that they occupied that square at the beginning of the turn.
But anyway, I've already said all I needed to say in the other thread.
Has anyone heard if the new PG will be out tomorrow? It seems there are a lot of 'issues' with the SP etc in this set, and (though I know they've probably been busy behind the scenes getting this all worked out) they have had that extra month in the delay of the set to figure this all out. I was really hoping we'd have word on a lot of this stuff before the set actually releases.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........

I hope so. Between this set and Watchmen there have been a lot of questions recently IMO that really should be addressed to avoid confusion in venues. Be real nice if that happened before the release events tomorrow evening...

"They" have said that it is extremely unlikely that the new Player's Guide will be out by tomorrow. The target date I heard was Friday with even next Friday being a possibility.
What makes you think it WILL be "resolved"? Anybody remember this:
MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES: Moon Knight can use Close Combat Expert, Perplex (targeting only himself), or Ranged Combat Expert. After resolving an action in which he uses one of these powers, deal Moon Knight 1 unavoidable damage.
Of course, by taking the 1 unavoidable damage, MK loses the benefit of his Perplex as soon as the free action he takes to perp himself resolves...meaning that Moon Knight can NEVER benefit from his self-perplex.
If I recall correctly, the issue was never corrected.
