The system needs to be set up to use the Have/Wants part of the website to create trade transactions. Cheap ### Gamer has a totally awesome system where you can browse "for sale/trade" status on games in users' collections, then propose a trade that is tracked through offer, acceptance, and items sent, ending in user feedback for the trade that is linked to the complete trade details.

I know what you guys mean. I'm in the middle of an international trade that was made via PMs and not off a trade thread. Ironically, when it comes time to leave feedback I'll probably post this thread's URL since it's the only reference available!

Seeing is everything revolves around me, all my trades come from my trade thread (mostly because no one ever accepts or responds to the offers I make from their threads).

I know what you mean. I don't even respond to the PMs I send out to folk for trades.

Again, I would just be content to have some explanation provided in here somewhere. More importantly, I can't put in the URL of the thread where I originated a deal because I get told the URL is invalid. Now, honestly, wouldn't it be me that would know whether that's the link my deal came from?

I'm guessing is to stop scammers creating multiple accounts and giving each other rating. How this will stop it, I don't know. He can just as easy and create a trade thread to get an URL.

Yea I'm sure Typhon will change it just for you select few that act like you are entitled to be told why he made a rule up for the site that he owns.

Like I already said, if it stops just ONE person from being scammed it's more than worth it for all of us to take an extra 2 minutes to shutup and put the stupid link in the spot it needs to go.

Could it use some tweaks , sure. But to act like this is some sort of injustice is ridiculous. After seeing scammer after scammer you think people would welcome any tool that could possibly help, even if it is just a tiny bit. Even if for now it might not be the be all end all of scam stoppers, it can't hurt at all.

Editorial aside, I don't think folk will disagree with you that anything that impedes the scammers most likely falls into the "good" category.

That said, I don't find anything wrong with folk asking for more info. It was a pretty significant and sudden change with little to no explanation and it's taken a lot of folk by surprise. It's all right for folk to react to that.

Of course, in all fairness I think everyone should also consider that further disclosure on the part of the Powers That Be may undo any security gains they hope to achieve with the new measure.

It's a parallel that I am sure is not lost on many.

IMO Typhon runs the site pretty well lately, yea maybe not as well a year or more ago. But to me it seems like he is more involved then ever. So for now I trust what he's doing, and if he isn't telling us why, well so be it. At this point I wish he would say "Because" and shut down the thread. Mainly because some people's heads would explode hahahaha.

I don't disagree with you; linking my trade thread (since more folk contact me initially than the other way around) is really no big deal. I can just see aspects of both sides of the issue and thought the insight may bring some clarity and perhaps decrease some folks' furstration.
