If you expect Spider-Man to keep Super Strength, Incapacitate, Leap/Climb, Super Senses, Outwit, Perplex, transporter abilities, web tokens, etc. etc. for his entire dial, you might as well make them all a trait, right?
Except that defeats the purpose of not only Outwit, but the whole clix design as a whole. And if you're going to add consistent combat values into the mix, you might as well play Star Wars Minis* or something. We're here to play Heroclix, and the point of Heroclix is that things change during the game.
* (Nothing against SWM, it's just a different game.)
Well, then just put your 319 pt cosmic dial with the red n blue. That ought to give him the power you're looking for. I jest, really. I dislike spiderman very much. I couldn't care less whether he's under powered. From what I know, he's spot on. He's a dopey, dorky, generally fool hardy hero who follows his feelings more than his head. And yes, I haven't read much piderman. But what I have read, if anybody serious ever came after him, he'd be spider toast. And I think in this set, they finally made the spider baddies who've now been out into the big leagues, fighting the bigger, more badass heroes a bit stronger. Where as the spiderman highlighted in this set wasn't quite yet an avenger, wasn't quite yet aware of his actual power. He was like Kick ### before being hit by the car. Likeable, I'm sure, but totally dealing with his inner feelings and the reasons behind why he was fighting said villain. Once everyone got bigger and meaner, they stopped fighting him. I mean, let's face it, if you dropped dark avengers venom back into the spiderman storyline.... aunt may AND mj would be dead in the first issue. JJJ would be dead along with one of the major spidey teamup characters in the second. And spiderman would be crying his little baby eyes out and ringing mephisto's doorbell again.
Everything has it's place, and this spidey has a place fighting the sin syn one at a time, which was hard as hell for him every time. And whenever it wasn't hard, I can't imagine taking the writer seriously for the storyline.

Someones been a little too! attached to wikipedia Go back to reading DC...Also your comment about if a villian REALLY came after him is totally wrong.
Since you dont read spidy that much ill give you a little re-cap
Spider-man faced a very powerful villian named morlun. Much Much stronger then the typical villian hes ever really fought...why??? once morlun makes contact with him he can ALWAYS find him.
Spider-man one on oned the guy. (Al bet getting a few beatings in the process) and eventually overcame him.
Spider-man has also fought Hulk and Red Hulk
The list goes on but dont be talking smack bout something you dont know.
Lol at any rate Im sure were gonna get another Avengers Or Veteren in the near future.
Lets face it Spider-man And Wolverine In WOS was a giant toss up. you either liked him or not but the fact still remains that both these Heroes are on both major avengers teams as Permanent Members Not getting avengers versions of either is pretty bleak to me.

Words cannot describe how big a fail this post is.
There isn't really much we can do about your countless flawed opinions, so I'll spare you that, but please refrain from using homophobic language -- it's very unnecessary.

I love all the new versions of Spider-Man in this set. The biggest problem with the Spider-Man's of this set is that the SI version was a very under priced 50 point monster. It seems that as soon as they make an Uber piece no one is happy with any new versions. Look at Oots Batman versus the BatB version. Extremely playable at 74 points but since they made a 130 point version at the low cost of 75 no one likes him. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Not every piece can be a broken, under priced Uber piece or this game is gonna implode on itself.
We should really get into Plato's theory of how everything is an imperfect representation of an idea.
Namby Pamby nonsense and hogwash.
Chaos is real. Perfection is propaganda.
The world is messy so we (humans which are essentially ordering machines) understand it in terms of the 1 or 2 things that we can order roughly. The reason Hitler, Bin Laden, Obama or Bush are the bad guys is so we can put a face to the countless random garbage we have no control over and which thwart our Contingency Plans. Whether we are Having an extraordinary day, or our hopes are disbanded is just random, no one is trying to taunt us. There is no Darkness within.
Now I know I mentioned politics, but I tried to be even handed so don't lunge at me, or pounce on my points out of context.
The isolation we feel isn't white noise talking to us from the deep shadows, it's just confusion stemming from the wasteland of chaos. you can try to sidestep the issue, but not understanding does terrify us all. We are just passengers entrenched on a Large object. There is no vendetta against us by angry godsseeking to extended range of their powers. No one is siphoning Power, or trying to disintegrate those with the fortitude to hold the line against Vampirism of thought. There is no "the Society" trying to infiltrate our pathetic meaningless existence. Nothing trying to terrify.
If we are to find meaning we need to coordinate our actions, it's the only way to be protected against an uncaring universe. It shouldn't take a brilliant tactician to come up with this. Mistrust is our enemy. we all need to be spotters for each other and only then will we be unstoppable.
Iron River Read my wife's comic or I will say mean things about your dog.
I suckered these guys into playing: Feedback Damage

I'm pretty sure Bin Laden and Hitler are/were the bad guys because they're mass murderers.
On topic, I like the new spider-man. If he combat reflexes on his last two clicks, and some perplex on his non super strength clicks, I'd say he was perfect (though he'd probably need to be a transporter to appease others).
Only thing i can think of would be incap with 6 range for the spideys in this set. However, i really disagree with people saying this is not a definitive spidey.
Lets see:
-He has 50/50 chance to dodge and the ability is not outwitable
-He has 3 damage all the way until his last click which means he can put a dent on most characters even with invuln and even characters with imperv (if he is lucky)
-He has some super strength so he is capable of picking up objects but its not on his entire dial (seriously, spidey usually fights with his fist and webs, not with motorbikes or lamp post)
-He has the webbing which allows him to web people down and force them to roll breakaways which is exactly what spidey do in the comics : web them down to give himself some time to regroup
-Last but no least, he is very cheap in points which allows players to put in with other team members and let spidey become the support piece. Lets face it, when you have Iron man and ms. marvel in your team, does spidey really have to do the heavy lifting? He goes around and helps his team rather than become the man. Also, with this spidey, he can easy take on 1 or 2 sinister syndicate members alone if he gets his supersense rolls. (I've actually had him in a game where he took on both WOS wolverine and Green Goblin at the same time and survive until the game was over without being KOed) Also, there are multiple versions of spidey (the black suit sounds like he is reallly pissed off and ready to exact some payback) in this set that represent him at other times

What about the endurance of the human will to pummel those camouflaging underneath an alias of sorts? I'm not saying humans are always protecting the innocent (we have our moments of exhaustion, too), but overall there is hope to resist ripping it up and just being overconfident jerks in a warbounded warzone relying on a streak of luck for that lucky break of malice.
It's not all madness and skullduggery. There's the ability to invigorate - to have an inspiring command improving progress and making the human will indomitable. There is always hope.
Eh . . .
I have no sekrets, I just am.
Want to see me strip, sing, screw up my lines, and dance for my senior year spring play? Then check this out!
After giving it a full 24 hour spread to consider the review I wrote, I certainly didn't expect this barrage of comments. Thank you first and foremost; I went from rep 10 to 8431, FTW! Thank you for the comments that are filled with intellect opposed to incoherent ramblings of a Raging Forum Board Junkie. Many of the expressed ideas in this thread I agree with, however, therein still lies a Spider-man Named Set without a Classic Spider-man that matches up to his villains or his daughter in Secret Invasion. Womp Womp. Scene Change.
Seriously Ladies and Gentlemen (And I use the term Gentlemen very loosely in the angry gaming community), compare Secret Invasion Spider-Girl at 72 points (Also Scarlet Spider in this set at 72 points whom I remind has pounce) to Papa Parker Spider-man in WOS at 78 points. I hope you are as astonished as I am to see that their is a cheaper and improved Spider-character to be played instead of this Alter Ego Generic Lack of a Spider-man in this set. Alter Ego's really offset character dial build, and I'm sure they always will at this point in time.
I may not be asking for something definitive in a Spider-man, but only 16 Heroclix Characters being even over the 100 point value mark in this set, out of 64 characters, excluding LE's, etc. is just ridiculous to not go for it. 5 Clix in the set are actually Peter Parker Spider-man - BIBTB, Classic Red and Blue, Back in Black, Cosmic, and the hilarity that ensues with Bagman. Out of the 5, Bagman, Cosmic, and Back in Black are all made for specific story arcs of Spidey. Those sculpts and dials I feel are made well for those story lines. However, giving the Classic Spidey's the Standard Amazing Fantasy 15 Spidey Bio, I wanted and expected a difference in the two Spider-men. However, at a steep 90 point, barely playable brick Spidey, the New Powered Hero stepping into the shows of his new responsibilities is understandable, but they definitely could've juxtaposed the Spider-man #007 with more. Scrap the webshooters ability as a free action ability only when you have no action tokens (Fail). He's a Spider-man, he's going to make this a bang-up tie-up with some webs - show some love of the character use it with incap, or let him use it often; the set is called WEB of Spider-man. Honestly, just giving him a little outwit, range, and incapacitate would make this an Amazing Spider-man. Food for thought. Don't get your webs in a bunch true believers.
PS - I like where the philosophical chat is going - Not what I intended for this thread, but this is turning out to be full of surprises
Look out! Here comes your friendly, neighborhood SpideySteve. Catching comics and writing reviews like a Spider can. Thwip!

I should amend my statement saying I dislike him very much. I meant that I dislike what the writers have done with him in the past. I grew up reading the clone saga and the venom/ carnage stuff. Some of it was complete crap, but with very cool possibilities, thus being a tragedy.
I don't care that he's underpowered for a set that's all about him and has 15 different versions of him. Why 15? Because it's an exaggeration, something that emoticons can't quite express. Sometimes people troll because they're stupid, and sometimes people are actually making sarcastic overstatements with the awareness there couldn't be anything close to that in reality.
I'm sorry, did I miss how he really is a dopey, dorky kid who gets turned into a superstrong crazy good fighting hero? Oh, I must have not read the origins they put out, cause I'm pretty sure that's what he was dealing with going from total reject science nerd to spotlighted by NY's finest newspapers and getting huge publicity as his suit. Talk about a conflict of interest... again, sarcastic overstatement.

Yeah, he also got shot in the skullcap by punisher in the recent Punisher VS. marvel. So what then? It comes down to the writers. And I have read more than wikipedia. I just don't read spiderman regularly. I don't like his side stories they've had him go through. By side stories I mean, back story of what's going on besides the main fight with such and such villain. Like the whole mephisto thing. Thought that was kinda super lame. But it's my opinion, you know, I understand other people are wowed and whatever.
But I digress, the one villain morlun is hard for him to fight? That's one, he's fought thousands. My point is that I agree with this guy >>

But I didn't didactically point out why I thought the pieces in the set were playable versus their altruistic dial design intended for comic accuracy.

I was just trying to convey that the character you're looking for, the Avengers spidey, was not to be found in this set. It wasn't until he had figured out, through battling all the spidey villains, how to use all he had together. When he finally combined 1. superstrength 2. agility 3. spidey sense 4. webbing 5. intellect and 6. his GOOD INTENTIONS that's when he was asked to become part of the avengers. He was a beast, to be sure. Which I like about him. Which is why I like the set. I just don't like reading his stories. Ultimates 2 with him I like. But marvel zombies I think is an accurate representation poking fun at the major characteristics of spider stories out there.
