Yesterday I tried this:
- M10th Iron Man 125
- SI Mr. Fantastic 100 + BT 20
- GG Namor 120
- MM Professor X 131
- ASM Dr. Strange 90 + Cont. Plan 12
TOTAL: 598
Played on Dr.'s mansion. Got wrecked by a pseudo-mystic team of Dr.Doom, Man-Thing, Jinku and some low cost support pieces.
Although I failed to get 5s and 6s with rolls surprisingly often, I felt like I had good supports but lacked more heavy hitters. Ok, those general perplexes helped a ton, but... Also I felt that the terrain was more an obstacle than a good help. Do the illuminati need more open terrain, or it was my poor positioning?
By the way, a noobish question: I know I need 2 non general keywords per 300 pts to qualify for a themed team; but if I have this minimum may I have other non-token characters without these keywords? (See the team above: 4 illuminati and Dr. Strange without it. Would this be a themed team?).
why MM prof? and how you going to not play SI namor? no resource?
Why this prof.? Reason one: the Cerebro special perplex; reason two... I don't have any other one. I'd like to try the cheap one from FF GSX, is it worth it?
About Namor, again this one is the only one I have. Not bad at all, trust me: the symbol allows to hit and run, and all the perplexes compensate the -2 to AV...
As for resources: we don't use them. Just ATAs, feats and standard items. It's boring to play every team with IG/UB...
By the way, yesterday I used SI Dr. Strange and Wong plus some feats instead of GG Namor and ASM Strange. Much, much better.

you should get the SI namor, it is just too good not to run. And it is cheap
I like the FFGSX Professor X. I've been playing him on X-men team recently, the rest of the team having super senses, and hasn't failed to disapoiny me yet (even if shape change doesn't work out).
For Illminati I've built this team I have yet to try out.
Mr. Fantastic 100+ brilliant tactician 20
Professor X 75
Namor 100
295 points.
Namor does the bulk of the damage while Mr. Fantastic keeps his def up and prof X uses PC to force rerolls if needed.
With Mr. Fantasics perplexing both himself and prof X become equally as able to deal as much damage as namor.
If range is your thing, swap namor for the 100 point FCBD Iron man and run the team under the scientist keyword.
@realik: I know SI Namor is a legend, but honestly - GG Namor is not bad at all, far more mobile, and 30 points cheaper (feats, feats!). Thanks for the replies, btw!
@specled Jim: If I manage to get the FF Prof I'll give him a try. Thank you too for the commentary!
About my previous question: do themed teams require ALL characters to possess the same keyword, or just the minimum amount of them (2-3 per 300 pts)?
I used my buddy's SI Namor for the first time yesterday on a Defenders team and I gotta say that he does some work. getting map choice is pretty key though: for some reason my buddy chose a map with water on the side.... he regretted that when his team: house party protocol was getting housed while Silver Surfer took Namor for a quick dip
