Marvel has some of the worse crap in the comic industry right now....The only thing really going for them is the Cosmic stuff which they are destroying as I write this.....DC tends to tell a better quality store...I buy more DC than Marvel because of that.
a fan of both, have fave characters in both U's, but push cmes to shove I am a Make Mine Marvel guy...and if Geoff Johns continues his asshattery it may come to that...okay its really the crap writing on Green Arrow that has me pissed at DC
i think that marvel goes better with the public because it has better exposure...
dc just has batman and superman to represent their universe, in movies and cartoons...
if and when dc gets the lead out of its ### to get us movies and other accessible media about its other flagship characters the common public will acknowledge that companys presence...
go ryan renolds... i mean deadpool...

so I was wondering if this phenominon was just in my little town or if it was a global thing, there are many people I know that hate dc but love marvel but I never see it the other way around sure lots of people like both but it seems like its impossible to hate marvel and like dc. any comments as to this anomale(did I spell that wrong?)
FoŽ m3 7t's teh s1mpl3 f4ct th4t DC suxxors! I've been a Marvel fan since the early '80s, and before Joe Quesada and all of the DC rejects moved to Marvel to write for them.. Make mine Marvel. Now there isn't much different between the two companies... and DC probably has the better stories now.
I'm mainly a Marvel fan, Spidey for the most part, but I've tried delving into DC from time to time. I always end up losing interest though because the characters just don't seem as well rounded as Marvel characters do. Not that I think Marvel superheroes are more possible, but DC characters just seem less so.

I agree... Marvel's characters are more believable with human faults and weaknesses.
I don't find much hatred for either in my town, but a lot of people find themselves more on the Marvel side of things *raises hand*.
Now, of course there are some die-hards on either side, people who hate to play with the other side's pieces (hate to play, but don't hate).
But then most of the people I know are like me, they have their favorites in either but follow one side more. Quite a few even balance themselves evenly between the two.
As far as me goes, I can count my favorite DC heroes on 3 fingers, whereas I can list my top 10 from Marvel. Also, GSX got me so excited that I completely forgot about DC75th and even forgot the few figures that I knew I wanted (Guy, Superman). I don't see much, if any, hate though.

I think the DC versus Marvel arguments have been going on for decades. I've always just viewed it as part of the human drive to pick teams, form tribes, etc. Being a "Marvel Person" or a "DC Person" is the same as being a "Red Sox Person" or a "Yankees Person".
I just go by writer at this point, and artist to a lesser extent. Superheroes die, editorial staffs go crazy, but a great writer can usually write good comics no matter what.
Oh man, we got a Negative Man and a Jimmy Olsen? Now I need to think of a new signature after all these years!

Well, I don't exactly --
Wait. I see what you did there.
You have used a censored word. Please remove this word. <-- Please kiss that word.
I love both. If i had to choose, I'd say DC, because I could never not read Batman. But then I couldn't read Hulk, so it's Marvel. But then I couldn't read Green Lantern, so it's DC.
I do not understand why you can't just like the characters, rather than the company that produces their comics.
I dont' mean to further polarize the two groups but it seems that there are people who hate DC but love marvel...but I have yet to see a DC fan who hates marvel.
I have very similar experiences.
I think it goes down to how Marvel back in the day (and to this very day, reall) has always tried to make their fans feel as if they are part of something bigger than reading funnybooks about gaudily dressed characters beating each other senseles.
Marvel has always fostered this sort of clubhouse mentality, and even if they didn't intend this at first, animosity towards those not part of the group is a logical consequence of that.
Of course, these days Marvel has turned hyping their own product and slamming their competition into a fine art that reached its (for now) climax when they offered Deadpool variant covers if you sent in X number of torn off DC comics covers.
