What the hell happened with the sculpt & paint job??
THIS is what you show to hype your product?
After recieving our feedback time & time again about such issues & seemingly making an attempt to improve on the black-dot eyes in the recent starter & WoS.... You give us this turd?
Store finder feature has been on the WK/HC website for a while now. It is good to see it featured in the articles though, as it puts some emphasis on finding a place to play!
Also, this is assuming that once you actually submit your venue's info to be displayed (if it currently doesn't appear) that Wizkids will actually action that request and make your store searchable through their website.
OK, I'll be the first to say it: Too little, too late WizKids! You're thunder has been stolen on this product because you waited to long to do official previews. Quit the slow bleed of Print & Play for WoS. If you still have more stuff there, get it released already! And move on to DC 75th.
It's annoying when we have to get all of or NEW NEWS from outside outlets. It really feels like you're not even trying to be current with your new products. Heck I already have all of the Brightest Day dials posted in the figure gallery on Al's Clix Cave (since they were spoiled 2 days ago).
I'm sort of between positions on this issue. On the one hand, having the dials spoiled already made the Hawkgirl reveal a bit underwhelming, and I would appreciate a bit more communication on the part of Wizkids.
(I was going to argue that I play hobby games put out by companies that are less communicative than NECA, but thinking about it, the only currently manufactured games that I play as frequently as Heroclix are Battletech and Call of Cthulhu LCG; Call of Cthulhu has card previews once a week, and Battletech has developers contribute regularly on their forums, post at least 3 canon paint jobs per week on Camospecs, and have a subscription tie-in fiction service with at least one novel-length pdf per month. Both of these games have MUCH smaller active fan bases than Heroclix. To put it in perspective, Battletech's starter set has been out of print for almost a year, and Call of Cthulhu had less than 20 people at their Gencon world championship this year, and the winner got to design a card!)
On the other hand, I don't expect Wizkids to compete with non-official sites spoiling their figures. After all the WoS spoilage at GenCon, I wasn't disappointed when Wizkids didn't have all of the WoS dials on their website the next morning. Additionally, Wizkids might be banking on the majority of their player base either not knowing about, or not regularly checking, fansites like HCRealms. For that (perhaps majority?) portion of their fans, this Hawkgirl dial is new, exciting information.
...that said, come on, Wizkids, pay somebody an hour of overtime a week to set up an official twitter feed and post a quick status update. What's going to be in stores that week, maybe a "there will be a new Superman in DC75th, and it's going to be awesome we think" blurb, a "it's our art director's birthday, we're having a cake shaped like Ultron" tweet... something. I refuse to believe that the hour of overtime you pay that employee won't be made back in sales when you increase the level of communication between you and your customers.
I don't disagree on several of your points. That said, can we at least agree that it's good to see WK posting with some consistency, regardless of how folk may agree or disagree with timing and what-not?
I for one am happy to see some consistent communication on the website and hope it's the start of something new.
Oh I'm glad there posting with some consistency, I'd just like them to be giving us information we don't already have as opposed to giving us info about stuff that we already know.
The funny thing is, I used to check the WizKids facebook page to see if WizKids posted any new information. Now I check it to see if ANYONE OTHER THAN WIZKIDS has posted new information. Case in point: they have all of the Brightest Day dials posted by someone else in there guest gallery. It just looks unprofessional.

Forget overtime. If I had any raw info and the means to post it, I'd freakin' do it for free (or for product) just to keep a consistent, professional flow of data. Heck, I wish they'd just let me get in there and clean up their figure gallery. I'm tired of Groot only having 6 clix, and Noh-var going nowhere.

In all fairness, the converse to your statement is that WK should have this info on their website in some fashion or another. Regardless of timing or how things were spoiled (first here, then there, etc...), one of the main criticisms (bordering on attacking WK) I've read here is the lack of frequent and relevant updates.
Now we certainly discuss what constitutes "relevant", but I prefer to wait and see what WK has in its plans, espcially since updates are now happening quite frequently.
As with many things, I remain optimistic.

I'm happy to see WK not just taking up space on the interwebs and actually using it again. Go WizKids!

{creeky old man's voice} i remember the day when the rule of thumb was that a 100-point character should have at least 1 click of 10...
{today's voice} Hawkgirl's nuts... a starting 11 (with Charge and Super Strength!) and the following 4 clicks at 10 ?!?...
unless she came back from the dead with her powers tripled...
also: if she's such a great aerial combatant and flyer, then how about a more dynamic sculpt showing her in flight... too many sculpts lately feature characters standing statically, in my opinion...
I'm actually hyped for this set, which surprises me because I'm not a DC guy and none of the characters are in action poses.
I can't explain why I like what I'm seeing so much. Maybe it's because after all these years I still don't own any version of Martian Manhunter or classic Aquaman.

In all fairness, does anyone own a good classic Aquaman?

I agree they should have it on their site. I just wish that if they were going to release previews, they'd do so BEFORE everything has been spoiled.
I don't disagree (at least not entirely), and really, you probably should have quoted the entire statement as I go on to say:

Now, if WK wanted the dials and what-not to be spoiled via another medium first, and then update their site with the info for folk who do not, say, frequent the Realms, that's a valid marketing strategy.
On the one hand, their hard-core fans are appeased (at least somewhat) by having the info they desire, and on the other WK is able to market their product differently to perhaps a different target altogether.
More and more, I am inclined to believe that perhaps the official WK/HC website is geared more to the casual or new fan than it may be to the hardcore fan (such as the posters here for example).
Thoughts?
