Nice write-up. I've tried using this Aquaman with a swarm of Aqualads and Namor for an Atlantis theme. It had circumstantial success at best. I think you're better off having this Aquaman act as a secondary attacker while the rest of the Justice League does the heavy lifting.

His dial is a little too shallow to front a team.

Exactly. He just can't handle being the center of attention, but if you send him after the secondary members of your opponent's team, then he can really shine.
And don't forget, if you're playing Golden Age and you aren't afraid of being a dink, put Armor Piercing on him to help with his Aqualad swarm.
i used him to great success just last night, but the trick is to not theme the team. I really wanted to use his trait and see how much damage that wear-down would cause, but the limited pool of Atlantis keyword characters are either expensive (Namor's tough to fit on there too at 400) or carp (generic atlantean).
So instead I just built him a good support network, and turned he and Tempest into a single unit. Both with submerged, Aquaman wearing Lunge. Aquaman can carry Tempest with him via the Transporter ability, assuring he always has stealth granting, charge stopping water with him. With Lunge, he is always able to break away 2 spaces, letting him activate his move and attack granted HSS. Or he can just hop around and hit with that massive CCE attack.
In the tournament we played last night, Arthur there never took a click of damage, and he killed every figure of note that faced him on the boards.

To me, that's not really dink-worthy. Bullseye + T-bolts to mystics? That's almost dink worthy. When Thor & Loki were T-bolting to crossgen - with damage shield and armor piercing that was totally dink worthy.
Nobody complains when you box up the Royal Flush Gang, because even with 30 points of feats, they're barely competitive. Box up the Thunderbolts or Martial Artists, and you've got another story.

I ran him on an Atlantis team with Namor, Namora, Attuma, Aqualad and an Atlantean Warrior, and I have to say I was really impressed. A big saving grace was the inevitable crushing of the warrior and 'Lad, triggering his trait. But that attack and damage value of his put several characters down on his own, including Violet Wonder Woman.

I'll have to show this post to my roommate. He claimed I was a dink for putting that feat on Aquaman with a swarm of Aqualads. Now granted, we just play fun games at home like Sinestro Corps War scenario. And for the record, the Green Lantern Corps did not win our scenario.

It's really no different than "Mystics-lite."
I've been strategizing how to deal with this should it come up in a tournament - and it basically boils down to "kill Aquaman first." His dial isn't long enough to be truly annoying, and it makes for a fun chase (like hunting Kid zoom!).

And looking at Kilowog's dial, I'm not surprised. AA raised the bar for the bad guys, I'm excited to see DC75 raise the bar for the good guys.

Unfortunately, BD Aquaman can't use Submerged because he has the symbol instead of the symbol.

Since Icons came out before a dolphin-based Transporter was made do you think the spirit of the Submerged feat should allow it to work on a dolphin-transporter?
I would like to see a re-write of the feat to allow both Dolphin speed types use the feat, but also have a caveat that other pieces with a dolphin based speed type are not affected by this feat.

There are a number of feats that could very easily be re-written to adopt to the modern rules. Shellhead is the one I'd like to see changed to allow it to function on an Indomitable character.
Great write-up on BD Aquaman anonym0use! I like many others am very glad to finally get a reputable King of the Sea (DC Version). I plan on using him very soon and love the dial and the sculpt. Can this Aquaman stand toe to toe with SI Namor? Probably not but he sure will put up a heck of a fight!

The symbol was introduced in Fantastic Forces, which was released before Icons. So the symbol existed when Submerged was released. The fact that no figure had it for four years is irrelevant.

I understand your point (which is exact as always) but believe that playability of the pieces should be taken into account. I don't believe you can judge playability without a piece to base it on (hence the use of the term "spirit").

Personally I like that the figures who have HSS throughout their dials cannot also get a form of Stealth for their entire dial.
