Very nice dial for 29 points. Will pair nicely with some other 7 soldiers.

Personally, this was a perfect preview -- especially because I'd already seen the figure.

When I saw this piece in pictures it actually hurt my opinion of the set. I had no interest in the character at all. But now that I've seen the dial and keywords, I'm thinking about ways he'll fit in with other characters I already love. And, in turn, that gets me thinking about what other characters I might find in the set -- for example, Alan Scott -- and I grow even more excited.

I've gone from actively turned off to interested. That's one heck of a success.

The cheap cost, two damage, and double targets make him a nice candidate for Armor Piercing.

Agreed, but I'm just thrilled they paid tribute to Lee (and with such an efficient little dial). Still happy they went with the classic look as opposed to using the later spandex (plus, grab an extra for a Shadow mod!).

Plus, really, being last week was a rather recent character (albeit one with heavy ties to the Golden Age), it's only right to go with the original starter himself this time out.

Assuming by retconned you mean the post-Crisis retconning due to Green Arrow and not the more modern incarnation.

I find that the following at least works as a nice "nod" Seven Soldiers team:

*Crimson Avenger (now replaceable by the real deal but previously the CD)
*E Star-Spangled Kid (just pretend its' Syl as the dial works for the most)
*STRIPE
*Green Arrow (LE Oliver Queen w/the JSA TA)
*Speedy (either the normal Crisis or the LE Roy Harper from the set)
*Shining Knight (I just try to pretend it's Sir Justin)
*Vigilante

Other than the bad usage of "costumed" (as that kind-of goes to Doctor Occult but it's nitpicky), the only real gaff is the "millions of years in the past" (which is a rather amateurish goof on their part). I just hate being reminded of the Superman retcon.

The classic coat is cool and all, but I mostly knew him with the Spandex-- I'll make a mod so that I have one for each look.
